I stumbled upon the 05 B12 wreck that the owner is selling with no price listed, Damage listed/ gas tank damage / mirrors broken / front fender damage / front turn signal damage /upper fairing scratched / handdle bar bent / windshield broken / rear plastic cover damage / exhaust damage / engine guard bent. What interested me and maybe you is the type damage we can expect God forbid we take the big spill. I keep thinking there got to be some crash bobbins out there to protect the fairing more. Maybe I should look into a custom set of big half round protector bars like they have on Harleys, the kind you can drop your with and nothing touches the ground.

I plan to get a set very soon - I need to make a bracket for my saddle bags first. I have found, through nasty experience, that saddle bags can really help protect a bike in a drop, especially if they are supported by a bracket that is tied to the passenger foot peg.

Maybe I should look into a custom set of big half round protector bars like they have on Harleys, the kind you can drop your with and nothing touches the ground.
I am sorry, but there is a point to wear undesirable ideas start coming out and I think that point has been reached.

big chrome bars hanging of a bandit are just wrong.

Yes-yes, I have seen all the sliders and I have a Suzuki engine protector on my bike but I am also a republican and I noted that when my brother-in-law's Kawasaki 600 classic cruiser with the big leather saddle bags and the big half round bars crashed on the freeway his bike hardly had a scratch, even though he was in the hospital for a month with broken ribs. Who knows maybe I will come up with something that will be revolutionary make race knee dragging obsolete. I just need to get access to a pipe bender and some high quality roller blade wheels. :idea:

Athough, I hadn't thought of roller blade wheels, perhaps if they were taped to the sides of the tank?

Yep. Recently lost the back end on a slippery corner - low speed fortunately - bike slid on the right bar end, exhaust can, Suzuki case guard, and Givi Top case.
Bar end is bent but still there. Can and top case are scuffed but 100% functional.
Case guard definitely protected the engine, but snapped the lower bolt :( Still need to drill it out and replace it.
Nothing else touched down.
Not an "S" model, BTW.
Case guards, whether Suzuki or Givi, are highly recommended!

Yah those naked models have allot less sticking out to crack and replace. When I was young all I rode or toured on was naked bikes. Age puts you behind a fairing and a very expensive replacement if it hits the pavement. They need to come out with off road bowing type plastic replaceable panels.

I have a friend who has a B12 nekkid and his son went down on his bike. I was really surprised on how little damage there was. The left Suzuki case guard bent inward, but held up and saved a lot of damage
