Title: 1 gen. B12 and a 60 Front tire
Post by: dgm0967 on May 31, 2007, 11:11:05 PM
Has anyone tried a 60 instead of the 70 for the front tire? What were the results? The reason I'm asking is that the dealer said it wouldn't matter much but the ride might less smooth.

Yes, I'm running Conti road attacks with a 60 front wich is slightly shorter than the 70.(98 B12) Even with the rear of the bike up 1 1/2",and the 60 series front,it shows no nervousness. I've done a track day with this set up last year when the tires were new,and worked great. I have a new set of the same waiting on deck when needed. If anything it might be less unsprung weight on the front(probably not much)  Dan

Thanks. I put a Conti Sport Attackt on in the 60. It had a Battleax on. I did a quick 20 mile test run and I'm very happy.

It will make your speedo read different on a 1G since they get speed info from the front wheel and a 60 series tire will turn more times per mile than a 70.

I noticed that. I think it's off about 5%.I used the odometer and mile markers to come up with the guesstimate.
