Title: 1200 caliper for Bandit 250
Post by: billybandit on December 24, 2005, 03:15:30 PM
My front brake has been binding lately and attempting to fix the problem myself didn't help that much.

Now I know the Bandit 1200 and 250 share the same front discs, but what I want to know is - will the 1200 front brake caliper fit the 250? Thanks

(I know this is posted again in the 250 forum, but I need to get as much help as possible)

I imagine going to a wreckers is probably you're best bet. However have you  taken the brakes apart to check the pistons? Sometimes taking the brakes apart fully and lubricating them helps.

Yeah, I did that. The larger piston is sticking, and cleaning it helped for a bit. But the seals are lone gone, and the whole caliper is getting on a bit, even when it's at it's best it's not great. So I'm going to see if I can slap a 1200 caliper on it.

I rather doubt it will fit, the 1200's calipers won't even bolt on to a 600. But you can probably find a suitable caliper from some other bike that will bolt up... something like a GS500, perhaps.

Cheers for the help, I will look into it tomorrow, when all the shops are open again. Need to sort it soon - back to work on the 4th and my caliper is binding almost completely now  :crybaby:
