Title: 2006 MC Predictions
Post by: Sven on January 01, 2006, 04:38:43 PM
OK, this one's just for fun:  Put on your swami turban a'la Carnac the Magnificant, or just do your best Miss Cleo (was she Irish?  Jamaican? A little of both and a whole lot of neither?) and tell us what you see on the motorcycle front in 2006.  Serious predictions are great...make us laugh and you can select any prize from the lower shelf.

Matt Maladin will win the AMA again, Troy Corser will win the WSBK again, Chris Vermulan will win the Motogp. Well 2 out of three are a real possibility the other is, well, wishfull thinking at best.

Rossi will win the Motogp (yawn).  That is unless Yamaha really phuck up the off season development.

I will still love the little B6 more than the ZRX, even if the ZRX does really good power mono's :duh:

Boy, I'd love to see that! A Suzuki sweep! I'll be surprised if a Suzuki gets even one first place all season and I'll be happy just to see Chris or Hopper get on the podium.

Out of your three countrymen listed, you managed to actually get Troy's name spelled right.
FWIW, it's Mat Mladin & Chris Vermeulen  :stickpoke:

There's three reasons for that.

1.  I can't spell for shyte - spell checker was a wonderful invention.
2.  I have a Troy Corser poster in my office and as my desktop wallpaper, and
3.  I've been 'sipping' some wonderful brew from the 'states called Wild Turkey - very nice, but it does strange things to my mind.

Ah Ha! #2 explains why you got Troy's name spelled right!    :beers:  :congrats:

#3 explains the rest--i got a bottle of Turkey for christmas :beers:

Mladin and Rossi will probably win again, but maybe someone can at least give them a run for their money.  Hodgsen or Spiess in AMA?  Melandri or Capirossi in Motogp?

I hope they make it a little more interesting than last year

Wow, how bizarre to see a moderate blended whiskey seen as a premium import!  I'll have to knock it as a Kentucky whiskey...you should be drinking one of the Tennessee brews, such as Jack Daniels (they do have an unblended single barrel version), George Dickle, or for rum, the tiny hand-crafted Prichard's (see http://www.prichardsdistillery.com).  All are brewed in the same county in TN, all offer a distillery tour (JD's is very slick, Prichards is one-on-one with the owners) and are surrounded by beautiful riding country, either Tennessee Walking Horse country to the north, or more mountainous roads to the east (towards Chattanooga).

Actually, my favorite sipping whiskey is Buffalo Trace, with is not a TN product, but is quite flavorful, but has a higher proof.

Hey, this is supposed to be a thread on predictions, so I predict that despite my best intentions, I will ride a few times when I shouldn't.  (From an alcohol perspective.)

Hmmm...we'll have to come back and see if these predictions come true!

So far, no one's posited any technological developments.  What's this year's "Gold Wing with airbags" development?  Maybe a 7-cylinder streetfighter concept?  (Yeah, that's dumb, just tossing something out for the beasts to pounce on!)

I think we'll see a new Hayabusa in 2006 and a big-bore GSR - as 2007 models. No guarantees on any early releases, just that we'll see them - in magazines and m/c shows.

I think the interesting question to be answered is will Honda stall us again or deliver on the rumored VFR/Blackbird replacement? You know, the open class V5 sport-tourer.

I predict we'll get a new 1300cc Bandit.  It will come with a 'Busa rear shock, all stainless steel lines and cables, factory Helibars, a tall windshield that can actually keep a bug out of your mouth, a comfortable seat, Progressive springs up front, AND it will cost a thousand dollars less than the 2005 models.  AND it will only be available in the United States and Europeans will drool all over themselves wanting one and wondering why they aren't getting it!

My predictions have never been wrong before.

Did I mention it was going to be fuel injected?

As I gaze into the tire smoke and smell the burning rubber I ask the great Bandit sprit to speak to me.

Echenay habu nay cobbo ta alla wa som anna fanna bo nana sept ta loco whitey na betch gonno rid som na ta la de da.

Translated (for those of you that do not speak the Bandit sprit language)

There will be at least one Harley at this years Bandit rally and the Robinson’s will win most of the raffle gifts.

Me and a co-worker are doing the sipping!!  It's easy to make that stuff once you find the roman wormwood.

I ordered a bottle from Europe last year.  It's a interesting effect...not so much like being drunk, more like weed.

I have almost the same prediction as desolation angel, except that i'll be 1000CC (GSX-R engine) and that the europeans will just import it from the US and derestrict it.
