130 at the crank ought to give 115 or so at the rear wheel I would think.  That would be 10-15 over the B12, the least you would expect from a displacement bump and liquid cooling.  I'll bet that new motor has real potential.  It's probably hamstrung by the Euro III requirements.  I hope they have one at Biketoberfest.

It indeed shows the new Engine puts out the same HP, but earlier on in the RPM range. On the same site they have the 650 Bandit showing a larger HP gain. However the numbers are missing from both charts.

I am sure that the new bikes arrriving in the USA will be hamstrung by the same emission standards.

So from what we can tell here, the Bandit got an extra 40 lbs, less vibes, ABS & no HP. (jeese Suzuki, I am really impressed!)

I was over on Max Suzuki & Dale from Holeshot implied he will have one. It will be interesting to see what he says on his comparisson. He stated on the thread over there that he will let us know just as soon as his new Bandit is broke in.

No so far, the only place I have seen claiming the 130 hp is the same site that this chart came from. From what I can see, they would also have to claim that the old engine produced 130 hp which we know is not the case.

I am thinking they may have made the 130 hp claim based only on their dyno results which we all know can be very misleading. The comparrison numbers they did, I think speak for themselves.

Even if it's not 130 stock... with that kind of engine I don't think there will be much difficulty getting an extra 15 (or so) ponies out of it with full aftermarket exhaust and a FI re-map.

I seriously don't see how they could make a water-cooled, fuel injected, 1250cc, 4 cylinder motorcycle that wasn't at least 120hp.

You might be right, but the chart would indicate that engine has milder cams & no more compression.  With the water cooled engine you'd expect it would have a lot more compression than the oil cooled engine.

One deal with the Bandit.  I understand the Euro laws have a 100 HP horsepower tax, that's why the Bandit is a little corked up on power but has considerable torque in the power range.  Obvioiulsy, Suzuki corked the power with the muffler.

Whether the new engine is that easy to fix is the question.  The good news is that some of the fuel injection systems can be remapped, or there maytbe be a hidden map or "wire", that can be adjsuted & unload a bunch of power.

we'll just have to see.

Nope, just France   has a 100bhp maximum. Everyone else gets full power versions with no tax loading or whatever.
95% of all Harley Davidsons ever made are still on the road....the other 5% made it home.

The Bandit is 100hp bike in all markets.  That's why you get a 10ph boost with muffler.

I know what hp the Bandit puts out but that wasn't the question  , you said there was a Euro law taxing bikes over 100hp, there isn't.

Bezzer.

Do insurance rates go up with HP increases?

I did have some German speaking tourist tell me it was very expensive to insure a lager displacement bike where he came from this summer. (I can't recall where he was from though!)

I am sure there would not be a "Europe wide" tax as there are many different countries in Europe.

It would be disappointing if the new bandito has no hp increase and gains weight, but the fuel injection and ABS are welcome, to me.  The new motor is uglier than the old, but that's the price for liquid cooling I guess.

It must be the 2007 1250 GT, but is that accessory bodywork?  I wouldn't mind having the color-matched luggage, but what's the point of the minimalist lower fairing?  It doesn't look like it adds any wind protection and only makes maintenance more difficult.

Hi

UK used to have a voluntary 125hp limit. France has a 100hp limit. Germany (I think) has a 100hp insurance grouping after which premiums go up rapidly.

All the best

Just checked Suzuki's website.  The new 1250 Bandit is indeed coming to the U.S.  Even the ABS version.

My Dealer informed me on the weekend that the ABS model will be retailing for $10,500.00 Canadian Dollars. Last years 2006 B-12 (the one you didn't get in the US) could be had for $8300.00.
