Title: 2007 Model Year Rumors
Post by: Red01 on June 07, 2006, 01:53:27 PM
According to UK-based Raptors & Rocket's sources, the Bandit 650/1200 will be missing from the '07 lineup worldwide due to inability to meet Euro III emission standards. The GSR600 will be joined by one or more larger stablemates to carry the Suzuki badge in the sporting standard line. Still not clear if the 600's bigger brother will sport a GSXR1000 or a Hayabusa based engine. What's new though is rumor of a V-twin variant sporting the big twin from the M109... and the possibility the B12 engine, with EFI and updated catalyzed exhaust might see a GSR format.

Concept of what a GSR1000 might look like:

Concept of what a GSR1800 might look like:

Concept of what a B12 powered GSR1200 might look like:

I'd be really surprised if a B12 powered version is made since the current GSR600 is already putting out power figures close to the B12.

Shown in concept form at the Tokyo show, Yamaha's V-Max prototype is very likely to make it to showrooms. Yamaha has a site set up to show-off the prototype and give you a chance to fill out an opinion questionnairre. (http://www.next-vmax.com/index2.html) RR's idea of what the final product will look like (with a seat and a headlight):

RR is speculating the Max motor might be used in a semi-naked hooligan machine and a downsized version in a liter sized sport bike.

Also rumored to be coming from Yamaha is an addition to the MT line. Currenly, there's the MT-01 powered by a Road Star Warrior V2 and a MT-03 with the 660 single found in Yamaha's (and MZ's) big bore dual sports. The new bike will be in between these two in size and designation. Speculation has it the MT-02 will sport either the 1100 Drag Star V2 or the parallel twin from the TDM900. RR is leaning towards the TDM version with this concept sketch:

Like the current MT's, I'm guessing this one won't be brought to the USA.

Ducati has already said the Hypermotard will be out for '07 in a 1000 Dual-Spark motor - like the showbike. It will likely be joined by a smaller version (like the Monsters & Multistradas are) - with a new 695 Euro III compliant motor.

The rumor though is an addition to the "Classic" line with a Scrambler looking bike like one of these concept drawings:
