Mr. Stealer calls me back around noon today.."Why don't you come over and give the Hayabusa another ride, I can reduce the price another xxx.xx hundred dollars." Long story short...It was remarkable just how much my overall impressions were improved by a lowered price. And he offered to install one inch risers for the bars. I didn't know that you could do that on a Busa....checked on insurance, not as bad as I feared with a moderate deductible. I told him that I would consider it over the weekend and let him know Monday or Tuesday...B-King next year? Hayabusa now? It's black and silver by the way..the fast colors...
-
Life is short. Enjoy yourself now......
-
That's my thinking too Pete...no guarantees about next year.... or tomorrow...cya on The Blue Ridge.... :beers:
-
Good Lord, they've drugged him with speed.
Lynn, I'm having a hard time seeing you riding a Busa with ape hangers. :stickpoke:
-
I have a picture of me holding our oldest daughter, on my bike, in between what must be 18-inch apes when she is about six months old...she will be 42 this year...and yes, those addictive personalities will react to speed of all kinds...I only use the gasoline powered versions these days...damn, that makes me a huffer....apes on a Busa....cracks me up...
-
Buy the hayabusa now and trade it in next year!
-
Thank you Mr. Swamp Rat.....although I would prefer to wait around for your 20003 model.... :beers: :thanks:
-
I say buy the Busa and turn it into a street fighter
Don't think I've seen a naked Busa yet!
-
The only one that I have seen, Manny, was The Ghost Rider doing his badass wheelie routine on the naked turbo......
-
And the deed is done...seduced by speed...I fought it, but I just could not hold out....I did have them uncrate a new one with 0 miles.... while I was waiting I rode a new GSX600...wow. I didn't realize 600s were that strong.....
-
:congrats:
-
Thank you Matt...I'm just about at the "if you don't do it now" stage of sport bike riding.....maybe a bit past....but apparently not yet...... I managed to ride past those other stores again... :?:
-
Way to go! :congrats:
post some pics!
-
One pic for now....my hauler in the background...not in the pic but I got a new helmet also, a Schuberth S1....product report to follow soon...

-
Damn, I think I'm as impressed with the helmet as with the bike.... as with the hauler!!
You know who else swears by Schuberth helmets??
Here's a hint:

He is the man...my favorite just after Juan Manuel Fangio, my all time favorite...I got to see him(MS) race at Indy the first year....it's a pretty neat helmet...they could have placed some rubber bumper pads in the secondary visior recess...rings like a bell until you learn to move the slide lever slowly
...if you are considering one, I recommend going up one size....XL Shoei, XXL Schuberth (pronounced Shu-bert, I believe)....thanks, Manny...
-
I thought I fixed that...oh well...here's to the future :beers:
-
...is ok 20003...I wouldn't change it..... :beers: ....I think that I will go watch "Southern Comfort"...again.....I like that movie...
-
:congrats: on the new Pergrine Falcon! :beers:
-
I understand that Peregrines are a rare breed...there were a few at Crater Lake some years ago. just a bit south of you.....I sat there all one day just because it was so damn great a place to be.....thanks, it's a different bird to ride too..... :thanks:
-
It's black and silver by the way..the fast colors...
Uh oh, here we go again on the color wars.
On the Hayabusa, I haven't seen any of them that are as fast as the ones that are primarily green - accents may be in tan or gray... the ones in these color scemes seem to be more aerodynamic - and some may argue, better looking.

I don't know how well those radial engines would work on a bike...maybe Suzuki has a Rad-King in the works.......I'll ask my uncle if he ever saw any of those Hayabusas in the Pacific....after he had smoked their ass back into slag....
-
Your uncle may not remember them as Hayabusa's, but may remember them by their Allied code name, "Oscar." (There's a possibilty for a personalized plate for your bike  )
Their light weight construction and lack of much armor made their return to slag relatively easy. At ~320 mph, they weren't the fastest thing in the sky in those days either. . . OTOH, most of the Japanese Army aces flew these, so they couldn't have been too bad.
-
I spoke with my uncle last evening. To quote, "We most times just called them targets". He remembered "Oscar and Zero and Betty and a few others" but had never heard the word "Hayabusa" used in any context, but he does want to go for a ride.
