Sunday, April 1, 2007— What could be better than a pretty Sunday just perfect for riding? Or playoff hockey action? A sunny and high 70s ride to a playoff hockey game, of course!
On my way to the game, I was thinking about how, when I was still young enough to ride behind my Dad, he would take us out on China Lake Boulevard and weave his bike in and out of the striped lines the divide the lanes. It was my favorite of his driving/riding tricks, and one, many years later, which I wanted to learn for myself. In retrospect, looking forward to learning to do it was more fun than succeeding at it. I guess the real value is knowing my Dad did just because I thought it was cool.
With el Bandido’s 4th birthday coming up, I’ve been looking forward to hitting 30,000 miles together. Coming home from the game, I noticed I was getting close, so took a side trip past the Brussel’s Bonsai greenhouses, and stopped at the West Tennessee Veteran’s Cemetery to snap a couple pictures. A short time later, I was home, with 30,003 on the odometer.
But when I got I home I found that, much like weaving the lane markers, the anticipation of hitting 30K was a lot more fun than achieving it.
