Busa forks on B12
« on: December 11, 2006, 10:47:05 PM »
I'm sure this has been discussed before, but here it goes:

Got a set of busa forks cheap, told the legs were 50mm and 55mm, I have thes stock bottom busa tree.  Read somewhere to use a late model blade 954 upper stepped yoke to make up for the shorter fork length.
(I'm told its also a 50mm x 35mm offset)

Press in bandit stem and wahhlaaa. Great poser factor.

So, I'm looking for this stepped yoke, but what years will work?

Any thoughts?

Thanks
(p.s.- posted at some 'other' boards also)

Now the question is where to find said yoke. I have the busa one on mine and i have to move the forks WAY down to offset the length. looks kinda funny...
Someday we'll look back on all this and plow into a parked car.

well, I sucessfully pressed the bandit stem into the busa yokes- then bolted the whole mess right up to the B12 bike.  The diameters and couterbores were identical.  Took a heavy duty press, that's for sure- (No Harbor-Fregight crap press would cut it.) Used a bit of locktite in the pressfit.

Amazing, the original handlebar clamps bolted right into the top two holes on the Busa yoke.  Also, with a bit of machining to remove some bosses, I think the clocks and key switch will bolt straight into the other two top holes in the upper yoke.

Stock bandit wheel and rotors/calipers.

Bought larger id wheel bearings and turned three new axle spacers.  Calipers needed 3/16 of an inch inward spacing to meet the rotors, just used some washers I hade laying around.
