Am I riding the right kind of motorcycle?
« Reply #15 on: June 21, 2005, 01:23:27 AM »
Hell, I've got 50 miles of roads if I take the SHORT way.
I took a 200+ mile way to work a couple of weeks ago.  :monkeymoon:

The FJR (or something like it) will probably be my B12's replacement. (Coincidently, I'll probably be 50 by then, too.)
For those who diss the bags on the FJR - it looks good with the bags off, too. Unlike the Honda. And the bags come in handy for those longer road trips - or if you need somewhere secure to lock up your gear when you go somewhere and you don't want to have to wear or carry it.

The FJR, which was never intended for US soil, sure is popular.  Its funny how the manufacturers put the majority of their resources into power cruisers.  Sales on these things are flat, you can still find new 03's around.  Honda won't give up on the VTX 1800, they just keep expanding models and options.   It would seem others would take notice that Yamaha sells every FJR brought over and there are very few used on the market.  Maybe the B12 replacement will address this.

I had a couple of my Harley riding co-workers take the survey.
The guy with a softail cruiser should be on a FJR (he didn't even know what a FJR was)
The guy with a bagger should be on a 600 supersport... he's ~6.5' tall and weighs ~400 lbs.  :duh:

That's the stupidest damn test I've ever taken! I answered 24 questions, hit "Next" and it says "Error 503 Service Unavailable".
Edit: Okay, I got the site to work. I should be riding an FJR1300. Sounds pretty accurate. I don't know what moxie is, but I scored -1 on that. How many people can say they got a negative score on a personality test?

WTH ??? 883 Sportster ??? This test obviously has some flawed logic in the programming.....or a few more choices are called for. I almost can't imagine any two "standard" bikes being further apart than the B12, which is my "dream machine" and the 883, which I'd rather kiss a pig than ride.
Do I look/ride like a LazyBoy type ?? NOT.....well, since you can't actually see me, you'll have to trust me on this.....

Regardless, the Hardly Dangerous is the absolute LAST bike I'd ride. In fact, I think I'd rather ride a city bus than an HD.....and I've pretty much successfully avoided mass transit for 99.99% of the last 40 years or so....

Suzuki VStrom
You scored 4 moxie, 5 zeal, and -4 pomp!

You have the traits of a sensible and effective rider, with an utter lack of concern for image, so you should feel comfortable riding a sensible, effective, and hideous bike like the VStrom.

You are the rider most likely to Rhino-Coat your bike for the sake of practicality.

HA! Sounds like me.   Started out on a two-fiddy.. moved up to a Bandit 6 and am now spreading out to other great bikes such as my Bandit 4, SecaII and GS550.

I also got FJRed :thanks:
Seems like the B12 was almost the perfect bike for me.

I used to have an 883 Sporty.  It was limited in it's ability, but I still had a ton of fun on it.
Just think of it as an XR883

Suzuki V-Strom here.. Not really understanding why either. The bike is just 'eh' for me. I'd prefer something just a little more exciting..

Although, truth be told, I don't think there IS a perfect motorcylce for me. I firmly believe that I need a whole freakin' garage fulluv'em! At the very least I need a fast, fun little 600 for zipping around back roads and a fat, slow cruiser for putting around w/ the ol' lady on the back.

I start thinking this way but then reality steps in. I realize I can't afford to maintain/store/own two bikes. (I have enough trouble w/ just one!) So I have to find something somewhere in the middle.. and that's where the B12 is for me, a respectible comprimise between form, function and fun. (I did the same thing w/ my rainy-day ride; a comfortably equipped Ford Ranger pickup.)

My next will probably be a 'power cruiser' set up for borderline touring (hard side bags and a screen). Then I'll sell/trade the B12 for a used CBR6 or something.

Harley of some sort

BUT
All the questions are like "You're riding slowly and someone wants to overtake" and all the answers are variations of "pull over" or "stay"
Or "Someone overtakes, what do you think of them?" What do I think? Think? Race time!
