Title: B-king at the drag strip
Post by: solman on February 27, 2008, 02:54:15 AM
My friend with the B-king took it to the drag strip.  His best time was 10.3 @ 135mph.  The only mods he has on it is a Yoshi slip on.

Thats about my B12 runs with the stock swingarm and set up for the street, at stock height :beers:
About right for 150+ RWHP.
Now if you lower it and stretch it, ....it should run like last years Busa.

I'm starting a petition to ban the B King and have it melted down into paperweights on the grounds that something so ugly can only do the earth more harm.

Think of it as an A-10.  It is ugly, but brutal.

Or just brutally ugly...

I always thought the one sided nose gear on the A-10 endearing (yep not the word you may use but really), in fact short of one doing a run on my house I don't find it that ugly.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I think the B king has great potential to not look like some Japanese anime project gone wrong. Just like lots of the other bikes I've seen in the showroom it has exaggerated features which end up looking odd, and way to much plastic which ends up looking fake.
It certainly has looks that would keep me from buying it, be nice to take one for a spin though.
And back on topic I would have thought it could drag a little faster...

Like I have said in previous posts, it is an awesome bike to ride.

Maybe he didn't have the switch set to power?
Maybe the person dragging the bike had no clue what he was doing too.
I got my v-max because the previous owner got scared after 60+k on it when he took it to the track to drag race.  He was running 14's and happy doing so then got pit against a dropped pickup with a HUGE air intake and supercharger.  He then tried to really get a good start (which he hadn't before that) and had the bike do a rear tire spinning donut.
Obviously he got a DNF.
Maybe the person was just trying to get down the track and next time will post a better time...

Trying to tell me that isn't a good time for an almost stock bike?  I am sure that will some practice on the track he make get 10 sec or high 9.  You got to remember, this bike doesn't have a stretched swingarm, so there are limitations.

I'm agreeing with you that its a good start. the response was to those that said it wasnt any better than a bandit,,,

sorry solman didn't mean to knock his times at all, you're right with the stock swingarm all that power has some serrious limitations. All I see when I look at the B-king IS power, and of course i'd hoped it would drag very quickly, mind you I'm no drag racer, where there's no corners i never do so well.

No need to apologize, I was just putting it back into perspective.

I know it is a good time for a stock bike,
I said it wasn't as good a time as My Bandit, 9.78 at 139 mph.
I've seen stock Busas and ZX12s run about those same times. He needs to lower and strap the front end down to get a good start :beers:
I run 9s with 155 RWHP, the B King, with about the same RWHP, will run 9s, if it is set up right.

Beauty (ugly), is in the eye of the beholder.
Different strokes for different folks.
I always thought that the Busa was not a good looking bike, but if you want to go fast in the quarter mile, it's the one to have.

Beauty?? C'mon man I KNOW you don't like riding with the dining room table in your lap!

I'd take a ZX14 over the Busa for the looks.

I stopped at the dealer to look at the BKing, first off, I can't even sit on it with my feet on the pegs, my knees hit the phoney looking plastic sticking out from the tank. You are right, I would not have one of those :bomb:
