JC Whitney Trunks as Side Bags?

Has anyone tried using the Large bags as side cases? I plan on buying an SW Motech rack from Twisted Throttle soon and I was look at these as a cheap alternative. I've read some posts saying these are pretty close to identical to the Givi E360's, and if that's true I would assume they'd work as a side bag. Anyone tried it?

I think any of these bags can go either way. Question is, do you want something sticking out that far? That's heading off to car width territory.

I don't know.  I guess the question I have about the JCW option, is how often are you going to use them, what are you carrying and are you confident they will be completely secure on the bike.
I've ridden 20K miles with the Givi's and use them all the time.  I carry a laptop to work in all kinds of weather (the Givi's are completely waterproof).  And I occassionaly ride very hard.  The Givi's are solid as a rock.  If I were considering the JCW bags, I think I would contact the JCW Tech Support and ask a bunch of questions.  If the manufacturer recommends/guarantees them I would probably be interested.
How much less money are they as compared to the Givi's?

Well from what I've read, they're pretty close to the e360s like I said, which is what I'd be getting if not for these. So width wise I'm not all that concerned about, I bout SW Motech racks from Twisted Throttle so if I do want to take the bags off it won't be a problem. I read one post about someone who tried this with success, but that's the only record I can find of it anywhere. I guess I'll be test #2.
