Today i saw a b12s loose to a fj.
« on: July 23, 2006, 01:40:35 PM »
While i was at the 1/4 mile outlaw run i saw somthing disturbing,
The b12 was beat 3 consceutive times in a row by a fj.
every time it was by  1 to 2 bike lengths. both had aftermarket headers and exaust,K&N filters ect.

i thought the bandit was the quicker of the two. was really shocked  by the result.i know that the rider makes a diff. but can it make that much of  diff. or is there somthing about the fj i do not know about??
If it wont go,use a bigger hammer!

Motorcyclist Mag "Hard Numbers" section shows the FJR1300 and Suzuki 1200 Bandit to have nearly identical quarter mile times, both coming in at about 11 seconds even.  Judging by their numbers I would say it would come down to the rider if both bikes were stock.  Of course an FJR may have a higher top speed than a stock bandit.  I've ridden a 2003 FJR.  It didn't handle too good, but I hear they have upgraded the squishy suspension.  The one I rode wobbled when you started tossing it around.  Didn't have much cornering clearance either, plus the engine baked your legs.  Does that make you feel better? :-)
Riding motorcycles..........and loving it! :-)

Even the original FJ11 & FJ12 are not slugs... remember, the FJ11 was a top-of-the-heap sportbike when it first came out. Without going and looking up the numbers, I'm gonna guess they turned in times close to a B12, so given the variables of rider and machine set-up & condition, yeah, I think it'd be a close one that could go either way... and in drag racing, launching skill can make a BIG difference.

I had a 1989 FJ 1200, it ran 11.60 at 118 mph.
I went on a lot of trips though Western Arkansas and into Southern Mo.,
It was a great bike in it's day.
If I didn't have a Suzuki, I would have a Kawasaki
