Thanks, Jay! :thanks: :beers:
I have the moolah in my pocket. It'll be in the mail tomorrow.
-
sweet! I'm in!
-
How late can I commit? I should be back in Ohio for a family visit and might be able to schedule it around this trackday. I am turning my B4 into a track bike, so this might be excellent timing! Also, I haven't ridden Nelsons Ledges in years!
Dave.

Dave - I think once he gets 20 riders, you could probably sign up close to the last minute. However, if we don't get 20 by a certain date, it won't happen.
-
tut,tut ,tut I have reserves! we can only have so many peeps so the bandit clan has first dibs but if it dont happen i will be looking to other peeps for fillers namely racers! cause they are a group in there own! :beers:
-
I'll keep my fingers crossed!!! This would be a blast!!
-
Well Jay, I didn't expect to get TOO MANY peeps! :monkeymoon:
My money is in the mail this morning (a day late).
-
if i can get the money up i will try to make this one even though i have a triple now. hey dave i though you were in arizona? you are the same dpgasser from the core board? if so how ya been. maybe we can get eli to come out for this track day also.
mike

I will certainly try to make this one as well. I have a trailer, and if anyone in Chicagoland would like to come I have room for 2 bikes. All I ask is they share the cost of gas.
Won't know for sure until the date gets closer though.
-
sweet the more we get the cheaper it gets ! :beers:
-
I'll still try and recruit a couple bikes from my area. Kurt Uteg is a instuctor at Nelson Ledges, he has a Speed Triple,a ZX-6R and a 750Ninja that he used to race. He's very personable and a great promoter for Fasttrax. If you talk to anyone from my area about doing track days they ask"do you know Kurt Uteg?" So I'll stop by his place and look for some more (PEEPS?)
Another buddy of mine his really falling in love with his FJ1300. I'll give him a call and we maybe headed to Mid Ohio Vintage Days from the track(I have to check my dates)
-
cool people just need to send money to BOB STANLEY :beers:
-
Can we get some more info on this?
Is it at Nelson ledges?
All day, 6 hours, 2 hours, etc?
Open track? Or is this like a Fasttracks class?
I did Nelson Ledges a few times when I lived in Akron a few years ago (once on a speed triple, and once on a GSXR750). Great fun. I've never had the B12 on the track, but I'll bet it's a hoot. I'd love to at least try and make it...
-
open track at nelsons ledges 9:00 till dark group sessions free mini school to those that want to learn something ,Thanks to BOB STANLEY , leather rental available , mild tech inspection. Im gonna try to bring Hot dogs and buns but id suggest all bring something and we will make a picinic out of it for lunch ! Tons of track time be prepared to be tired!
thanks
jay
-
Ton's of track time is an understatment. Last time I rode there I ran the school, then open practice afterwards. I ran 284 miles in one day at Nelson Ledges. I was trashed, barely could hold a conversation with the MRS that night. It is a pretty fast track, mostly 3rd and 4th gear only. I plan on attending as long as I can sign up maybe a month before.
-
Open track? Jay - thought you were running 3 groups? I always thought open track was where you go out and come off as you please.
284 miles? Brian, that's insane! Although it's a totally different track - very tight, slow, technical, IIRC mainly 2nd gear - I did about 90 miles at my last Pocono day and was BEAT!
-
I did the advance riders school which did have some different groups. It ran until about 400 pm. Then the open track day started for riders with a racing license. A friend of mine name Kathy and Bob Stanley told me I could run with them the rest of the night. That is where the mileage came in, I rode until 800 pm. I realized how fast they were when they would lap me about every 6-7 laps.

!
Okay sorry let me clearify this ! 3 groups ( never been to a track day, do track days, and ready to race!) If you cant ride your hole session pull in ! Thats what i meant about open track ! Dont feel like going out a session no big deal! There will be plenty of riding for all ! sorry about the mis-communication! :beers: :thanks:
-

Hey Mike, yeah its me. I lived in Phoenix for about 6 months and now my wife and I are out here in California. I did talk to Eli about this track day, but he is already scheduled for 3 track days this upcoming season (including the CORE only day), so I'm not sure if he will be able to make it. Good hearing from you!
Dave.
-
Hey Jay - How many peeps ya got now? Is the date locked yet? By when do you need to have commitments from the full group of at least 20?
(Man, I REALLY wanna ride. I hate winter!)
-
Uh... Jay???
-
Uh i heard ya the first FERRIS, LOL I emailed bob and he hasnt recieved your buddys money yet , but he said that the date should be locked up today! 3 people as of right now! Not doing so good , MIND YOU I CAN ONLY HAVE SO MANY PEOPLE ON THE TRACK ! So if i have to started getting other people other than bandit riders that limits the spots that YOU the bandit people will have ! So get in early ,thanks jay :beers:

That was kinda my point. We've got a lot of people who say they are interested and think it's a cool idea but for it to be a truly "Bandit" day, people need to start bucking up!
-
Qoute from Bob Stanley of Fasttraxx! "JULY 17, Monday is Bandit Day...it is done. Now, get those peps off their butt and send me the $ PLEASE!!!
B"
You heard the man ! It's on!
-
My pal Chris supposedly sent his cash late last week. He's not bringing his Bandit, tho. He'll be on a track-prepped '01 Gix6.
-
cool, i might have another anouncement to make to ! Dont forget everyone that is coming to bring some stuff to eat im gonna grill hot dogs for lunch if ya want anything else i'll through it on the grill we will all get together at lunch and have a pickanic! cheers
-
Come on guys get it together and commit to coming to the bandit alley track day!! Only you can make it work! I may have some suspension experts coming to help out with set up or to talk to! It all depends on all you! cheers
jay
-
Cant do this with out you people its supposed to be a day for the bandit guys , without you all it turns into just a track day nothing special!

I'm still trying to sign up bikes from my area. I gave some info to a guy that comes to the shop(knew his Dad from when I was a arm wrestler) He has a Super hawk, and one of his buddys has a 99B12.Just seen him yesterday, and wrote down the info for him and told him to contact his B12 buddy. Don't know if it will go anywhere though? Will have to follow up.
At first he seemed hesitant, not confident at trck speed. I explained to him he didn't have to be. Its the perfect place to learn, improve on your skills, and have a good time. One of the times I was at a Fasttrax school there was 2 Harley's riding. A fat boy and a ? some other big bike with floor boards spewing sparks coming out of the carosel.Another buddy is putting new (upgraded) isolastics, stiffer swing arm,and maybe belt drive on his Norton Comando. He would like to go, but still not sure if he can get off that day.
I'm sure there will be enough help there that anyone who wants to make their 1st track day will come out a better rider. And have a blast doing so.
How many do we have so far Jay? Dan
-
Where's the OH crew? Come on fellas, step up!
-
How many do we have so far Jay? Dan
Sad to say from you guys at the bandit alley only the three that reserved the track for the day! Thanks guys , you are the the bread in the jam LOL!
Like Rob said come on make a comitment we planed this early enough! In other words get off your lazy :monkeymoon: 's
-
This sounds like fun. I've only been riding for a few years, but I'd like to give it a try. $200 sounds pretty reasonable from what I've heard from other friends who ride. Do you have anywhere near the 20 to hold that date and keep the price reasonable? I have to check schedules, and be sure the bike is running strong before I'd commit. It's just about close enough to SE Wi for me to ride, but I did see someone in the Chicago area offering a ride in his trailer.
-
Cool, we have that date locked in . We just need more people from here. Im sure i can cover the rest of the people that dont come from here . But the whole idea was to get people from the bandit alley to go. Not turn into another track day for racers. but it will be what it is when the time comes.
I will have a few people from a shop there they are a good shop with with a gmd computrac type set up , vast suspension knowledge and a hi tec dyno set up. so if you have any question like that they would be glad to help . also Bob has offered a mini school to anyone that feels they need to know some stuff about getting around a track.

Don't be scared off because you've only riding a short while. I'd been riding about a year and a half b/f I did my first day. This Bandit day, which should hopefully have a bunch of first-timers should be even less intimidating than a regular track day. Come on out!
-
I would love to commit, but Mondays I work at night and watch my daughter during the day. Me and the mrs would both have to take a vacation day. I will see what we can do. Especially after all the work Jason has put into this. I will know in the next couple of weeks.
-
good luck to all and God speed!
-
Talked to my Pastor after church Sun., he has a Triumph Sprint and his brother has a Bandit 1200. Seemed very intrested and wrote down the date. So I'll have to go to church again now with Bob's mailing address and see if I can get him and his brother to send$. I'll know somethings up if the plate gets passed around a 2nd time(just kidding) :beers:
-
LOL, Thanks funny. Seriously folks time is coming nearer so lets get on the ball this is all for you.
The Plan:
1) Mini school for those that need advice about running on the track!
2) 3 groups or more if needed. NO ONE will feel that they are forced to ride any faster than they need to.
A) begginer group (never been on a track)
B) track day people (have done track days , this will be monitered closely)
C) Racers (better come with a race bike (this will also be monitered closely)
4)Hopefully I will supply some sort of lunch.
5) Maybe a reputable performace shop from the area showing up, that can assist you with any performance and suspension questions you may have
6)Lots of bench racing after wards
7)Ambulances
8) More fun than a barrel of monkeys! LOL
-
Roamr - sure hope you can work something out. You were one of the people I was counting on being there.
I keep seeing that Jomed dudes posts thinking "hey, that's me!"
This will be a GREAT setting for your first track day. C'mon out!
-
Hey Jay - what's the tally now?
-
 same at is was
-
 The Robinson Riders will be doing our summer ride in KY this year and Grant & I may just take off and head up to the Bandit track day. Anybody know how far from Lexington to Nelson Ledges? (I know - Mapquest!) Are there good places to stay close to the track?
We did a NESBA track day (My 2nd) at CMP, Kershaw, SC, last year, had a blast, and learned a lot!
Can't commit yet :stickpoke: but thinking seriously about it!
Rob
:beers:
-
There are plenty of places to stay in Warren,Oh.about 15min.from the track. There might be something closer on rt.422,but I'm not sure.
-
:thanks: Thanks S.O. How is that track?
:?:
Rob
-
It looks pretty rough(and it is in spots) but it is a awsome traction track. It has one of the longest carosels of any track in the states. Its been around for a long time. Paul Newman used to stop in from time to time with his sports car yrs ago. It has history and is also a vey fast track. 2mi and 13 turns with a lap record of 1:08 something. Thats fast! I only run high 20s And was looking for 19s when I fell in the wet. If you can do 16s your running good! But there are some guys that are just FAST! I'm just a 50 yr old fart on a Bandit, but I still want to see 19s. Dan
-
Regarding accomodations - there's also camping at the track. That's what I'll be doing the night before.
-
And I will do the same bro!
-
Estimated total cost for this track day? There is the 200 track fee, as well as tires right? I imagine we'll want to be running slicks or race tires? I've never done a track day before so I really don't know. I'm just trying to get an idea of cost to decide if I can come or not. I'm a poor college student :(.
-
yes 200. camping is free street tires are fine unless you have a race liscense then there would be no need to ask! so you should be fine no antifreeze in any bike that come and wants to go on the track!( water and redline water wetter)
Also must have tread on your street tires no bad tires!
-
is there power at the track?
-
in some spots. Okay sorry to say but Im told we have to come up with the money by the end of the month or this trackday is a no go!!!!
we have only had 2 people sign up = Smoothoperator, and Rob(pitter) Im told Bob has not cashed your checks and if this doesnt happen by the end of the month your money is going to be refunded. But hey Rob I will still come up and watch you at the beav.
cheers all hope we can get this going.
Jay :crybaby:
-
I have pepole who are intrested, and have Bob's address w/info posted @ the bike shop. But its tuff to get them to send $. All show and no go. If its a bust,I'll make it to some Wend. practices anyhow and maybe a Sat or 2. When you going to Beaver Run? I love that track,I wanta go!
Dan
-
COME ON, PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!
Jay - Bob has $$$ from my friend Chris too, right?
I'm doing Beav, with Chris, on the 16th. If the BA day is a bust, I'll do the 15th there, too.

Not that i know of ? But it could be that bob used dans money for dan to get a liscense for this year and only has yours and chris's checks but im not sure as all he told me was that he has 2 checks. come on guys it cost 2500.00 for me to rent the track we have 400.00 in the kitty if we go over the 2500.00 people will get some money back. do the math how many does it take at 200 to pay for the track? ( 13 more people)

beaver is the 15-16th of July but it is through NESBA and you have to pay 75.00 to get a membership, then the track days are pritty reasonable. Im still debating if im going to do that or not cause i will only use the liscense once. Unless I go to pocano for the old FUSA track.

Aw come on, guys. For your $75 you get reasonable track days, a t-shirt, waived gate fees and some good vendor discounts. Since I didn't make the rally and the BA trackday is falling apart, I'd love to see some Bandit brothers at the Beav!
-
what kind of rules do they have. I.E. one piece suit, boots, saftywire, what are the rules for it
let me know im very interested in it
thanks
josh
-
Jay - correct me if I'm wrong here... You covered this in another thread somewhere and I'm too lazy to go lookin'...
You: I think he said, especially for the noobs, that full coverage leather or textile (no mesh) was ok. One-piece or fully zipped leather preferred. Over the ankle boots, gloves (gauntlet style?) and a full-face helmet required.
Bike: No safety wire needed. Water + Water Wetter - no antifreeze for liquid coolers like me. Decent tires and brakes, nothing loose, no leaks....
WE NEED MO-LAH IN THE NEXT WEEK, PEEPS!
-
yes that is correct and he rents leathers if needed like with a deposit and some cash deposit returned upon no crash.
-
I hope ya'll read this and not by-pass the track day tread, But anyone that isn't too awfully far away,if we can make this happen YOU WON'T BE SORRY! You don't have to be a racer to improve your skills. And I gauratee you'll come out a better rider! It will be the most fun you've had on the bike and its knowledge that will carry on to the road. Might even save your hide! Lets get it together and make it happen. I can do track days, but it would be cool to do it with ya'll from the Badit Alley .
Dan the smooth operator because I learned it a Fasttrax!
-
So... is it dead, now?
-
Well Jay,you made a great effort (2nd time) and I thought it would have gone over better. A local guy is selling his SV that I was wanting to buy,but I bought kitchen cabnets instead  HAs a 750gsx-r front end, very little miles on it,a 2001.and a buch of race slicks,gp shift pattern, quick throttle. We were going to do a endurance, but now he's just going to sell it. Looks like its not in my cards right now. Too many bills.

Hey Dan - just out of curiosity... what's he asking for it?
He wants $3200. It had 50 miles on it when he bought it with a wrecked front end. He had a wrecked 750gsxr and put the front end on it. Only raced it a few X for a couple yrs.(bought house, wife is having babies,yada-yada) Motor is stock, but has full Yousi and a extra Aprovovik can. Made his own plates for the rear sets.race plastics, bunch of slicks. Took a 3rd place in sprints his 1st yr out. but then life got in the way. If you want it let me know befor he e-bays it.
-
Thanks, Dan. That sounds like what I'm after but the timing isn't quite right, though. Stock rear susp?

Not sure,I know he was trying or looking for a couple different shocks a couple yrs ago but not sure what came about. I would have asked when I seen him last week, but I was just bummed out that I couldn't come up with the doe. But now if anyone wants to sponcer a racer, I'llbe glad to race it!

Sorry but I've been away...Is there going to be the Nelson Ledges Bandit Track Day?
:?:
