10w40 or 10w40 synthetic?
« on: July 17, 2012, 09:34:58 PM »
Mongo (on this forum) used Mobil 1 Full synthetic I believe, and the last change I did was Penzoil 10w40 and this change is going to be Motul 7100.

Honestly is there a bfd between regular and synthetic oil?

I have always put royal purple in my Mustang but lately since I dont drive it very often, just putting in standard oil.

Is the Bandit going to see a better life internally with full synthetic?

Thanks
Jake

right now I am using Suzuki 10-40 oil.  I got the 5 qt jug for $18.  That's cheaper than Castrol syn motorcycle blend.

I've used the diesel oil just before I replaced the clutch for the 2nd time.  But now i have a heavy spring & it's been fine prolly 40k.

The only caveat is that Diesel engine oils typically have much higher levels of Phosporous and Zinc. This can lead to reduced exhaust cat life of any bike with a catalytic converter in the exhuast.

I THOUGHT THAT I READ SOMETHING ON HERE ABOUT "NOT" USING SYNTHETIC OIL IN A BANDIT BECAUSE THE CLUTCH SYSTEM DID NOT LIKE IT?....

AM I MISTAKEN?....

I ALWAYS USE 10W-40 VALVOLINE 4 STROKE MOTORCYCLE OIL IN MY BANDIT.....

AND ROYAL PURPLE SYNTHETIC IN MY MUSTANG GT.....

I FIND THAT SYNTHETIC SEEMS TO SLIGHTLY IMPROVE ENGINE PERFORMANCE IN THE CAR.....IT SEEMS TO RUN A LITTLE SMOOTHER.....

BEFORE I SWITCHED TO SYNTHETIC.....I NEVER BELIEVED THAT I WOULD ACTUALLY SEE A DIFFERENCE.....BUT I FOUND THAT THERE IS A NOTICABLE DIFFERENCE.....
