Well You know I have the 1250 that I ride daily, I got the 2004 that was wrecked about a month ago. Well I was looking for a frame and tile and I bought a 2003 with title that was supposed to be locked up for $300. Well curiousity got the best of me. Had to diagnose it myslef. Put the 2004 battery in it and hit the switch, and heard a clunk. Didint sound right. Pulled the starter off and the armature was badly toasted, Pulled the starter off the 2004, Popped it on, Hit the switch and the thing fired up. Ran rough, but it fired up. I dropped the carbs, did a quick clean up adn reassembled them. Runs like a champ. Only 8600 miles on the 2003. its a complete machine ready to run. So now my delima. i have a 2007 1250 big dog. Then the 2003 that runs and drives. So not what to do with the 2004. It has only 4500 miles on it. But the front end is damaged and the title is hosed up. Maybe part it ou adn recoupe some cash, or built it for a track bike only. What do ya think. Starting to ryun out of room in my friends garage, My 18x26 wont be built for a couple weeks yet so i cant start parting anything out yet. I dont know I am seriously considering a track bike at this point, but its not my first choice of track bikes.

As I was reading this, I was thinking "sleeper trackbike." I've seen guys B12s (particularly a guy on a slick-looking 2G naked) schooling sportbikes on the track. Looked like fun to me.

My son-in-law has a couple of Legends cars, (http://www.legendscars.com/) that'd be cool, too - except class rules in Legends racing require Yamaha FJ1100/1200 or XJR1200/1250 engines, but if you were to build a street legal Legends car for fun & games, you could use any engine that you could cram in there.... but I've liked the idea of a street-legal Legends car ever since I first saw one.
(Now if I could just talk my son-in-law into giving me one of his to play with - and ship it from FL up here to WA, I'd be all set.) :clap: :lol:

Good for you, Gunz. Sometimes the bear gets you.....but....sometimes you get the bear....and this time you got him in spades!!! $3-$4K in your jeans, just like that !!! Is this a great country or what !!??!!

Thats not many miles, just broke in. Although you could use it for a track bike,and do alright, it wouldn't be the best choice. I've used my 98 on the track and did alright. But your not going to be able to have the corner speed you could on something lighter and more adgile. And your going to go through alot of tires, And tires end up being your biggest exspence. If its just a set of forks and a wheel you could pick that up and put it together and sell it. But then if you need the fairing and other parts and it ends up costing too much vs what you can get out of it, you may be further ahead to part it out. That would probably take some time to sell everyting too. And you would have to keep relisting everything. Then buy a SV 650 for a track bike. Or it mat be easier to make a street fighter out of it.
My 98 was wrecked by someone who took it for a ride. I wasn't sure wich way I was going to go. Then I seen a few things I needed on ebay and bought them. So that made up my mind and I resurected it. Thats what the Chineese charitures say on my fairing, "Resurected Bandit". Good luck, Dan

I know someone who has a GXSR1000, and a Bandit 1200. He actually prefers the Bandit on the track over his GXSR. A Bandit would be a blast to have as a track bike. Add some inverted forks, Busa shock and you would be set. BTW, I think the Bandit has enough torque to handle the corner speed.
