Title: Best Roadside Assistance Plan?
Post by: Sea Dog on April 24, 2005, 05:06:21 PM
Hi All,

I was going to renew my AAA membership before I head out to the BOSS Rally and points west next month.  I'll be riding solo, so I'd like the peace of mind of having the best plan possible.  Any recommendations for anything other than AAA?   I remember reading about a good plan for RV'ers that also covered motorcycles, but can't remember the name.  Don't really care about fringe benefits like maps and discounts, just want the best "get me the hell off the side of the road" plan.

Regards,
Julie

I tried signing up for AAA but they would not tow bikes, so I joined AMA and the Mo Tow (motorcycle Tow plan) think it was like $65.00 for the year.

I have CAA Plus (Canadian) which is part of AAA, it cost around $100. However, there are some towing contractors who either refuse to tow a bike or they make you sign a waiver.

I don't have coverage for this sort of thing for my bike, but a guy at work told me about this one, he got it for his Harley (and everything else), and it sounds interesting...

KOA RV Road Help (http://www.koa.com/rvroadhelp/)

It's $79.95/year and it covers everything you & your spouse drive or ride. Unlimited towing (even if you need two tow trucks - like for a truck and trailer), emergency roadside labor, lost key/lockout, KOA discounts and other stuff.

I've heard many good things about AllState Motor Club
with the RV option . It covers motorcycles and provides
unlimited  towing distance. I understand that they will tow you to the nearest - qualified - repair facility. Not just the first repair facility.
I know riders who've used it to be towed over 200 miles, no charge.

Apparently, it also covers you on any non-commercial vehicle you're in. You'd have to check and confirm the details.
