C02 Cartridge refills
« on: September 24, 2006, 02:29:00 PM »
Does anyone know the proper temputure to store C02 cartridge refills :?:  I have them in case of a flat tire and I would like to carry them under my seat at all times. However the bike can be in temputures as cold as 10 degrees (wind chill factor in the winter) and as hot as 115 degrees (heat index in the summer). I don't want the refill cartridges to explode from extreme temputures. :?:

I can't say what they are specifically rated for but I carry several under the seat myself.  We had 108 in the shade this past summer and nothing has popped yet - I'll bet you're gonna be okay unless you park in a forest fire.

As long as they have some thermal protection, you shoudl be OK. Just wrap them up in something that will create a thermal buffer from temperature extremes, the canisters should be OK. The idea is to give them gradated heat  absorbtion or release.

Thanks for the info. I'll start carrying them for the purpose intended for in the event of an emergency.
