Title: Clearance around lights?
Post by: Silverstreak on July 27, 2005, 06:04:32 PM: I made myself a luggage rack and sissy bar. I've mounted my Rocket saddle bags to it. However, because we're riding two-up, the bags are a little further back than usual. In the end the bags are just over the turn lights but because they are so far back they kinda hide the break light. There's no obstruction from directly behind but as you get off to the side it begins to be a problem. Does anyone happen to know what the rules are regarding visibility?

Maybe you can mount some small turn signal lights on the side of the soft bags, and fabricate some easy wire harness/plug that would be discrete and hook up easily?
They wouldn't have to be large lights.....or stick out, just add some visibility from the side.
I'm anal about visibility....and rather add it, than remove it.
There's probably some low profile, LED lights out there that would work, be visible, and wouldn't look bad.

If you think it's a safety problem....you'll feel better fixing it, and probably be safer.

I'm having trouble coming up with mental pictures of how this would bite you in the 'arse'...other than legally.
