What: The NightRiders: Ride To End Drunk Driving

When: Departing August 15, 2005

Where: Beginning in Colorado, ending in Washington, D.C.

Why: Now in its fifth successful year in operation with plans for national expansion underway, NightRiders is seeking to bring national awareness to its cutting-edge concept, the designated driver-on-demand service. They are hoping to garner awareness of their unique solution to drunk driving by launching a national crusade and riding ten of their mini-motorcycles from Denver to Washington, DC. They will be on the road for two weeks spreading their simple concept: “Hire a Designated Driver... Don’t Drink and Drive!”

Background: NightRiders is a designated driver service dedicated to safely transporting people and their vehicles when they feel it is unsafe to drive. What sets NightRiders apart from a taxi service is that our customers arrive home with their vehicles, rather than leaving them behind. Their drivers place a collapsible mini-motorcycle into the customer's trunk before driving the vehicle to the destination. Upon arrival, their driver collects the fare, reassembles the mini-motorcycle, then uses it to return and pick up the next customer.

With over four years of experience, NightRiders prides itself as the leader in the designated driver-on-demand industry. We have been featured in both TIME and Inc. Magazines, honored on the floor of the U.S. Congress, endorsed by The Colorado State Patrol and deemed a Corporate Leader by the National Commission Against Drunk Driving.

Specifics: Their crew of 10 volunteer drivers will be making stops in cities and towns as we travel across the U.S. on their way to Washington, D.C. We will depart from Denver, CO on August 15th and plan on arriving in Washington no more than 14 days later.

Their purpose in going on this ride is to spread awareness of the designated driver-on-demand concept, a powerful tool in the effort to end drunk driving. Through this ride they hope to get closer to their goal to see this type of service in every community in the United States dramatically impacting the DUI problem.

The NightRiders are seeking sponsors concerned with keeping streets safer to help us in any way they can. It is critical that they obtain corporate or individual donors to make this ride an absolute success.
