Fellow Banditos, its with mixed  :sad: emotions :grin: that I bid farewell to my Bandit and welcome my new baby a 05 FZ1 in silver.  :thanks: Bandit for the memories of blasting around the Northeast the past 3 years. Got a great deal on the FZ1 can't wait to :motorsmile: Heres  :beers: to a great season.

I've looked at FZs and they are a nice bike, can't blame you for jumping ship.  The FZ has always been at the top for best all around bike.  Great bike for the price.  It usually ties with BMW's GS but thats because the GS has off road, adventure touring abilities.  I don't understand why Suz doesn't take a current Gixxer 1000 motor and have an updated Bandit.  The SV model probably has something to do with it. but its ergos are pure sportbike, who knows.  Good luck with the new bike :motorsmile:

Yes, I debated between the FZ1 and the Bandit before buying elbandito. I really like both, although I've never ridden the FZ1. I have to say that I think the ergos on the FZ1 are a bit better than the Bandit. Probobly the only reason I went with the Bandit is that they have been around a lot longer and I could get one cheaper than the FZ1. Congrats and no blame from me.  :congrats:

:congrats: on the new ride. The Fizzer is a nice bike and I'm sure you'll get many happy miles out of her. Like many here, especially B12 owners, I considered the FZ1 (and the ZRX) when shopping for my bike. Just remember, no one here will make you leave because you jumped ship.

Good luck with the FZ1!  I debated between the Fizzer and the Bandit until I got the insurance quote.  In Canada the FZI is classified as a supersport bike and the premium would be $2600 :shock: The Bandit was under half that amount.

2005 Bandit 1200, Modified Holeshot Stage 1 with 17.5 pilots 2.75 turns out, and 110 mains 5 shims. Muzzy Slip on w/mid-pipe, stock filter. 1.5" hole in the airbox lid.

Congrats on the new ride. I looked at the FZ1, ZRX and Bandit for a number of years. I had an '83 Yam 1100 Maxim saddled up during this time. I went with the Bandit based on price, powertrain reliability and really most of all - comfort. The FZ1 was fairly expensive in comparison but fit me well and although I really like the ZRX a lot I found it to be least comfortable for distance.

I had a concern with (some) Yamaha transmissions... Although it never failed me I had a balky 2nd gear on my low mileage Maxim - it sometimes shifted real hard or missed 2nd gear (especially when the oil was end-of-life). My brother's YZF600 blew out the 2nd gear with very few miles on the bike due to the shift dog issue. I read as much as I could on bike transmissions and would say that Suzuki was best in this regard.
