I did the unthinkable and crashed on my Bandit. It faired thru it quite well and no serious damage. I am now in need of some parts and any help in acquiring parts would be appreciated. I am ok, just a little stiff and beat up. Wearing full equipment definitely paid off. My helmet took the abuse as far as my equipment goes.
2nd Gen naked bandit:
Oil cooler
Gauge cluster
Outer gauge cluster cover
front fender
rear tail piece.
front steel braided line, (right side)
Any leads would be appreciated.
Right now, the oil cooler and replacing my front brake line is my priority to get it going again. I might be able to repair the tail piece. I won't know until I take it apart.

For a moment, after reading the sentence that preceded that one, I thought you were talking about yourself!
Glad you're OK. :thumb: Glad you were wearing gear, and glad it did it's job. :thumb: :thumb: As some here know, I'm an ATGATT guy. As they say about helmets, they're good for one shot. Your other gear is intact?
Hope you get your bike together soon
-
glad you did better than the bike!
Gunz is parting out a 2004 in the for sale forum, but i'm sure you have already seen that.
Hope you get back on the road soon.
-
Tough break man, I'm glad you did better than the bike.

Actually I haven't seen it yet. I will go check it out. Thx

Shit no good about the off glade your ok..
-
Ooof, man, you really did give it a good wallop to have broken the guages! But if you're not broken, the rest of it is just a matter of time and money. When you get a chance, please let us know what happened.
I forget, what color is your bike?
-
I hate it when that happens! But glad to hear that you faired alright through it. +1 on a new helmet, it did its job and its time for a new one.
-
Hope you are OK.
You should be able to get a SS brake-line pretty easily. Check with your local dealer-mechanic or check the yellow pages for local fabrication. You can also go to Galfer or Russel, I am sure they'll sell you just one line.
As for the oil cooler, seems like there are some aftermarket brands that are larger and polished for "bling". You might check Dale Walker to get a lead on one. Otherwise call a bike salvage yard (800 number) & get one parted out. In fact, if you're on a budget, you might get all the pieces, color matched from salvage.
Suzuki should have all the parts available already pre-painted. I would not buy parts that weren't the right color: that paint & labor will exceed the cost of the parts, and will look worse in most cases. That Color Rite paint is very expensive & then it has to be a perfect paint job. I would advise just to bite the bullet and pay the extra upfront.
One other hint, if you have some chips or scratches, for the darker colors (like red), a flat black marker does a pretty good job of blending & hiding.
good luck. we've all been there. this is all from an earlier experience. I could go into the medical side of all this too!

Also meant to mention it is easy to get an SS line repaier, since you have all the hardware like bajo bolts etc. A local hydraulic shop I've used charged $30 for both fronts on an old KZ650. Worth a thought.
-
Sorry for your crash, Solman, but glad to hear you're okay. I can certainly identify with what you're going through after my getoff last summer. :duh: At least everything is fixable, including yourself.

Miriam, I'd be VERY careful using rubber-based hoses from a hydraulic shop, if that's what you bought. Their rubber hoses are NOT intended for use with brake fluid but rather with hydraulic oil. Brake fluid can cause serious deterioration of standard hydraulic hose over time.

lol don't worry i didn't have them replace it with hydraulic hose. They has SS brake hose on hand, and just used my old banjo bolts to make it cheaper. Really nice guys actually, they tell me it is pricey for them to source banjos, but if all i need is an existing hose replaced I'll go there again.

Hey Solman,
Really sorry to hear about your crash. Let me know if I can help in any way as I deal with all the stuff you are looking for.
-
I forget, what color is your bike?
He's got Slow Poke Silver :lol:Sure was a pretty Bike too. I haven't seen it post oops though. Doh :duh:
Glad your ok Cliff :beers:

Solman, I'm sure i echo all on here in saying i'm really sorry to hear of your off,and glad to hear your o.k. , you have been good enough to offer me sound advice in the past and its good to know you'll be about to help in the future, Mainly due to wearing your lid. compulsary on my side of the pond. It may be worth you posting a photo of the damage in the hope it may make some others take up the habit an areas where they still have a choice.
In the mean while good luck fixing up the scoot and i hope you make the best use of your stiff bits

Hey Solman,
You sent me some stuff to check prices on, but the numbers are not matching up. Would you please give me a call when you get a chance.
-
Once I pick up my brake lines, my bandit will be in riding condition again. Thx to the help of the forums, I also came across an oil cooler as well.
-
I took a pic of the bike today. It will be looking a bit better here soon.

Hey sol, sorry to hear about the get-off. Like we say in racing though, if you can walk, stumble, crawl away from it the rest is just time and money.
-
I got most of the body work squared away. I just have some finishing touches on it finish it up. I will take updated pics of it soon.
-
looking good all think considered.
You might be able to get a matching tank from salvage.
One minor thing, the engine paint is PJ1 Suzuki Gray. It's the same paint they used to use on their dirt bikes. You can pick it up at most shops. Take off the covers, smooth them with a file and shoot them with the rattle can.
-
That's good to know, thx.
-
I got a new paint job on the bike and I ordered a carbon fiber front fender. I will take a pic of the bike after I get it installed next week.
-
Well the bike has gone from this

to this:

This isn't the greatest of pics, but it was a quicky job. I will try and get some better pics of it later.
-
Looks Great!! :congrats:
-
Thx, I can't wait to take it out and get some good shots of it.
-
So glad it is all coming together for you. I really like the blue/white 05 colors.....are you going to keep it that way or are you going to paint?
Either way it looks great.

Paint? No way! If I was going to paint, I would've just painted my other body pieces. I will still eventually get them fixed and painted to have two sets.
-
Hey Solman can I get you take a close picture of your gauge mounts I think I'm going to go for a street fighter but I need relocate the gauges out of the fairing!
-
I think the top triple is different on the naked bandits.
-
I took this pic today of the bandit. It was difficult to take a good shot of it on a sunny day, but I really wanted a picture. I will have to wait for an over cast day to get the shot that I am looking for. In the mean tme, this will have to do.

I think there is only one word to describe the way she looks now...sexy!
:beers:

That's what I thought I just want to see so I can start the modification process!
-
Shame that you didn't ask earlier when I had it all torn apart. I could've done it easily before. Unless I tear it all apart again, you won't notice much of a difference. Your best bet would be to look at a fische on bike bandit.
-
Thanks I'm sure I can figure something out no problem!
-
Hey Cliff - She looks Great! Sorry I didn't make it with you guys last Sunday turned out to be an air gap :duh: But with my tire the way it is I probably shouldn't have gone anyway... anyway I just wanted to post up and let you know I like the new paint :congrats:and good work.
-
Not a problem, maybe it was a sign for you not to go.
