Is it worth me derestricting my B6 before i legally can.
I was looking at the laws over here (UK) and apparently they only check to see if a bike is derestricted when it is ment to be restricted in the event of a fatality so if i get caught i will probably already be dead. :boohoo:
At current the bike gets up to 80mph easily and then takes a very long time to get to a top speed of 110mph.................. so is it worth derestricting. :motorsmile:

Man is it that bad over there? I knew that yall were restricted about the Guns that you could own. So now you can not shoot the Criminal or go fast enough to get away from them. I would check into moving away, preferably somewhere with a little more freedom.

No the restrictions are for learning to ride. I won't tell if you don't! As long as you don't have a big sign on the bike. Hi!!! I'm unrestricted who will know? Is the restricter some huge device that's painted orange so the police can check to see if you have it? If not(internal) it would have been gone the next day it was put on!

IIRC, they're restricted in horsepower for the first two years they have a m/c license, unless they're old enough and wealthy enough to afford Direct Access, which gets them onto unrestricted bikes sooner.
Much as I absolutely hate gov't interferance, tiered licensing like the UK has might go a long ways towards reducing squid deaths... or increasing unlicensed riders.

When are you allowed to be "unrestricted"??? If it's not too long a wait I'd just wait it out and save up for a nice pipe(oops you have one) and jet kit so you can really be "unrestricted" when the time comes. You could try and pretend that the restrictor kit is cool.

you'd have to pull two spark plug wires to do that, then cut off your head pipes ahead of the collector and get yerself a chaindrive wallet, and may be some tattos. :stickpoke: :motorsmile:

If you want to, go for it! Most police over here don't know anything about the regulations. I could tell you a bunch of stories about people I know who could have gotten into trouble after being pulled over but the police didn't notice they were supposed to be restricted to a 30mph moped or 33bhp bike.
My 33bhp period is "officially" up on September 2nd. I was riding for a year as a learner, and have been riding the Bandit 250 for over a year now. And I'm sick of it! 2 years is way too long, 1 year would be fair. Only if they restricted f*cking car drivers as well. Bastards.

I didn't know a Bandit 250 had more than 33 BHP! If you're close to being "unrestricted" just take the pain. When it's up you should take the restrictor to the shooting range and put a couple of 7.62X51's through it! That'll fix it. Oh wait you're in Britain you can't do that.

Plenty of people ride full power bikes when they should be restricted. Suspect that at least 50% of those with 33hp licences are riding unrestricted bikes.
The police have been known to dyno them but not really that likely.

Rider123 - the "40bhp" GSF250 is 35bhp at the rear wheel, I suspect the "45bhp" earlier models make nearer 40bhp. Mine's the "40bhp" model and when I had it destricted (:wink:) I noticed a big difference! Even though it was probably only 3bhp lol
Spose it all counts when you're on such low power
