I'm campaigning to merge that one into this one, along with some other mergers. I think we have too many.

Its a no brainier for any adult to realize how crazy that is. Especially when you consider the concern of legal motorcycling maintaining a good image, this is like the MSF's worst nightmare scenario. The answer is in technology like an ignition chips that can be turned off remotely within range of a patrol car, at least for those dealers selling these bikes within city limits. The free-for-all ride park wont work unless it has tracks for sanctioned events like MX, moto, free style and flat track. Only then can you inspire a little club compliance and moral, because I don't think brute enforcement will work with these kids.
-
Maybe knocking their helmetless heads on the street a few Xs will slow them down.
-
Not unless you want another round of burned out buildings. Besides we haven't even confronted the immigration issue which may eventually result in the next revolution in this country.
-
Wow...I'm sure out of touch. I grew up in the West side of Vancouver and used to PUSH my dirt bike to the bush. I still got pulled over and questioned by the police. Anybody riding on the street here with an unlicensed and uninsured bike would be arrested.
Obvioulsly a bigger issue at play here.
-
All things being equal, I agree with you. But our beloved society has changed in this country. The politics of our homes and green lawns take precedence over societal and international moral responsibility and won't change until we are hit square in the face with tragic reality before we are willing to make a change or stand. Don't worry that day is coming fast, I just hope it wont be too late.

There is absolutely no way you could do that in canada. Our cops don't put up with any crap. What are you paying them for?
Oh and while you're at it -- make helmets mandatory.
-
It is simple, confiscate the bikes because they they are not street legal. Start taking away the bikes, then they won't have anything to ride. Or they can start paying big money in fines.
-
I think that was addressed in the video and the main problem. Catching a street bike is one thing, catching a dirt bike is like trying to run down a cat. Have you ever wondered why there are no dirt bike chasing scenes on police videos...

Confiscate the bikes and let the cops use them to catch the kids!! Those kids just ride on one wheel, a good dirt riding cops can catch them with ez! Fight fire with fire.

You see them once in a while... except the cop rarely catches them.
Here, a cop chases dirt bike down railroad tracks - dirt bike wins (http://youtube.com/watch?v=qBB3AsgjN1M) :duh:
What was he thinking! :bandit:

I have been riding for years and there is no way I can catch one of these agile kids (12-18) on a dirt bike with a dirt bike. Its the perfect get away machine usually having no plate or registration for positive ID. They could shoot them but that wouldn't go over well. The only other way would be to have an undercover unit of very young cop dirt bikers because the middle age donut rollers would never measure up. Then all they would have to do is take names for 6 months then bust most of them. Pound for pound dirt bikes are very expensive and valuable. I am not sure though that auctioning them off in the city would be a good idea.

Why not? If they end up back in the hands of the same types they were taken from, they could just auction them off again and again. Could end up being a good source of cash for the city.

Not that much different than how my state enforces ORV tags on dirt bikes in the woods. They put a few young rangers & deputies on dirt bikes and have them go out on the trails and make "public contacts."

It would be entertaining to see a cop on a Honda CRF450x with a light and siren chasing down other dirt bikes across lawns, municipal parks and storm drain canals. They would probubly get even more revenue selling the chase scenes complete with free style maneuvers.
