Harley dreams

Back in 1992 I had the urge (and cash) to buy a Harley.  Then I noticed an ad for a 1987 FZR1000 with 3,100 miles on it, I thought it was a misprint.  I was curious and called, and just for grins looked at what turned out to be a showroom pristine bike and took a brief test ride.  The first time I rolled the throttle on, after I stopped grinning, I thought - "the Harley can wait!"  I got old enough that the FZR ergos made the rides less fun, so in '98 I bought the Bandit.  Still got it, and I don't know if I'll ever get old enough for a Harley.  Oh yeah, I'm 60!

With 1/4 mile times like that, I would have to do the Flinstone thing and help push it thru the intersection. :stickpoke:   I often wondered why anyone would want to live the Harley life.  Let's face the facts:  1.  They are expensive as hell.  2.  Accessories are very expensive.  3.  Dealers aren't too well known for coming down in price.  4.  You aren't paying for quality.  5.  Not fast by any means  6. Harley riders are well known for riding without helmets (cool factor).  7.  Have to make sure that stay within walking distance of your trailer.  8.  Bike gets nervous if you ride more than one curve per hour.  9.  Seen scooters with better 1/4 times. 10.  Scrapes the chrome easily.  11.  Mufflers fall off (seen it in person once).
