Dyno Pull
« on: September 03, 2006, 04:20:43 PM »
Finally got around to putting the bike up on the Dynojet yesterday and here are the results! Basically she is a stock bike other than the Yosh and the K&N. There was a slight blip at 5400 rpm and she got little FAT at 8500 rpm but other than that she seemed to do pretty good given the modifications!

Nice. I have a similar setup, just a D&D instead of the Yosh. Not bad numbers.  :congrats:

We have had discussions on this board about how much can be gained from an aftermarket exhaust.
How much horsepower do you think you are gaining from the exhaust and K&N filter?    :beers:

If I am reading the A/F right, looks like you are rich at 8500 rpms to me. Above 13 is lean.

Thanks for the catch I was having a brain fart. The dude that did the Dyno pull is also an excellent tuner and thinks that shimming the needles will help the low-end air/fuel ratio and there should be no need for re-jetting.

Dale Walker (Holeshot Performance) is showing 101 hp on a stock 2001 in his dyno charts. I was wondering if I would gain that much with his stage two kit?

Mongo, I am willing to bet with the proper shims and jetting you will find a few more horses (3-5) as well.

You are disturbingly lean on the bottom and lean up top as well.

Does it hesitate below 4K?

By my calculations, you are making 64.191 ft lbs of torque at 9,000 rpms. By installing a set of GSXR cams, you would move that torque to 10,000 rpms, and that would be 122.222 horsepower.

No lean Pops, No hesitation, No Stumble, No Nothing!

She is a little cold natured in the morning but nothing major.

I'm not concerned about the lean numbers on the low end I've been riding the bike with this set up for over a year and it has not blown up yet!

GSXR cams now you have my attention.

Now we would need to talk about Jetting, any recommendations?

My best ET, my highest MPH, and the dyno of 155 hp on my bike was with 1989 gsxr 1100 cams, set at 103/105 degrees. I have the Cammotion G21 cams in it now, .380 lift, and will put the GSXR cams back in this winter.

I found that chart a bit dfficult to read.  I am surprised that it doesn't show the torque on the chart.  Here is my dyno chart so y'all can use it as a comparison.  I have a Holeshot high mount, stage I modified jet kit, and timing advancer.

We had not planed to put the Bandit on the Dyno that day, we were there to dyno tune Turbo Bobs ZX 1400.

When Andy’s part guy was running a little late (needs some one to watch the store front when he's tuning) he offered to put my bike on for a couple of quick pulls to check the air/fuel ratios with the current set up!

By the looks of your run the Jet kit would be the way to go to smooth the lower end of my curve!

 :thanks:

I look at jet kits this way. They have done the research and all the trial and errors.  So I would rather spend the money and pay for someone else to do the hard work.  Also if I run into any problems, I can call them up to figure out which direction I need to go to tweek it.  The Hole Shot kit also involved a few other tricks besides shimming and replacing jets.

I just spent the afternoon installing a Holeshot stage two-air box and jet kit along with a timing advancer; it made a huge difference in low end throttle response.

I can't wait to get up the canyon tomorrow morning and get a good seat of the pants experience.

Stepping the main jets up from 100's to 147.5's seemed like a huge jump but with the back of the air box missing it only made sense!

I'll try to get back down to GP Cycles and get another dyno pull to verify the HP increase and air fuel ratios!
