Ewan McGregor rides a Bandit
« on: November 26, 2007, 08:55:12 PM »
Ewan McGregor was quoted in the November 2005 issue of TWO as saying, “I’ve gotten rid of my sportbikes because I ride mainly in London – and I don’t like riding a sportbike in London, it’s horrible.  Whereas the Bandit’s awesome…”

actually it's another 1250 road test but it's an intersting tidbit.

At first I was thinking this is a ringing endorsement.  Here's a guy who can probably afford any bike he wants and he chose a Bandit.  Then I got to thinking, with that kind of money he could live anywhere he wants - and he chooses London?  Given his line of work and his passion for bikes, I would have pictured him living somewhere else - like along Mulholland Drive.

Maybe he's trying to be smart by watching his money so encase his career ends abruptly, like so many do in Hollywood, he can land on his feet rather then suffer the indignity of an estate sale.

I think London is one of the most expensive places in the world to live.  I'll bet he's got a joint in Hollywood too.  Anyway, he's a real rider & likes bikes & choses a Bandit.

If he's watching this board I'd offer to ride with him next time he's in Okla-Tx-NM-Ark.

Yepper, he's a tried and true rider. He and Charley just finished their long way down trip through Africa. Charley has done the Paris-Dakar rally.

Reading and watching the movie "Long way round" is what sparked my interest in getting another motorcycle.

Good guys they are. Much respect.

London's a fabulous city. Loads of tiny twisty streets (can you say roundabout?) and motorcycles are allowed and expected to move to the head of the line when you hit one of the few stop lights.

Same here, actually! I went for my license a few years ago, but failed...and was too busy to try again. I saw LWR on TV about a year ago, and said "thats it! I'm going for my license again and I'm getting a bike!"

Low and behold...got my license this spring and bought a Bandit! :D Cant wait to start doing some long trips!
