Sounds like a nice bike... though I think that muffler is grotesque and from the front, the fiaring looks like a widened Ducati 916.

I'm hoping Buell doesn't delay in using this new engine in the rest of it's lineup. And I'm also hoping they'll consider passenger accommodations on more than just the Uly.

I've been follwing it since its announcement...it looks about as close to a perfect bike (for me) as I'm going to find...oh, there's a whole bunch of write ups on it that have popped up in the last week...look at the UK and European sites...

Sounds like a wonderful ride!  I love the looks (always like that 916 look).  No mentions of a funky clutch either.  Nice!  Wonder what reliability will be like?

I'd have to agree. That pipe is nasty – it looks like like a WCC pipe coated in plastic. I'm sure you could fix that with an aftermarket pipe. The air ram? for 5 extra hp? I think 141 hp at the crank should be more then enough, without the ugly.

Now Buell has made me sit and take some real attention,
While Buell continued to use the shirtser  based engine, I would have never considered, little know, even looked at the the buell line up, for the simple reason, of its power plant.
No matter how much you doll up or extract H/P its still a basic Hardly Dangerous power plant. Well Mr Erik Buell, now I will even consider looking at your product, and wow, can not wait it they hit our shores. No I don’t want one, but I sure as hell want to test ride one.

Me I stick to dreaming about owning a MT01.

I am surprised that no one has talked about the HUGE intakes.  Those things are huge!!!

Those are for the side mounted rads not for air intake..the air intake is between the forks...but yes they are huge

Finally...
Its hard to validate a bike purchase simply based on country of origin, hence why everyone of us owns Japanese made bikes...because the options on american made bikes are nill for sport or sport touring...now there is a way to buy American and not be riding an air-cooled, slow v-twin powered hunk.
Now if ford could make the same turn-around, buying American would be the obvious choice for cars too.

Looks like a great bike.

I have both a bandit and a Buell because they are so different.

There have been times when I have wished my Bandit was as agile as the Buell and other times when I wished my Buell had the power of the Bandit.

Looks like with the ne 1125 I could have both.  (but I still wouldn't sell my Bandit)

Finally! Buell had the balls to drop the HD piece of shit engine. Rotax make some good powerplants. I'm sure there will be enough balls for this great bike.

Now, Rider123,

If I were so inclined, I could take offense at your rather unflattering characterization of the basic pushrod v-twin motors that faithfully power both my 2001 Buell S3T and my 2002 Buell M2 in a most satisfying, although somewhat sedate, manner.

The pushrod twins do have their shortcomings, but they have no more to do with "balls" than did Erik Buell's decision to hire Rotax to build a new motor to his specification.

I sometimes hear similarly disparaging comments about Asian machines but those comments don't bother me either because I know better and I really like my Bandit, probably as much as I like my Buells, but for very different reasons.

The new 1125 could be a bike for all reasons.

I'll just have to ride one - and then decide for myself.

Cheers

Oddly enough the more I read about the 1125R the more I like the XB12R....go figure

I test drove both a Firebolt and the Ulysses and for all of the amazing handling of the Firebolt, it was so sadly underpowered that you couldn't really fully utilize the bike's abilities.  The harley v-twin is actually a good complement to the Ulysses though...all that low/mid-range torque is a good thing for that type of bike.
But seriously...the XB-12r firebolt was sadly underpowered.  If it could have revved up to 9000 rpms without imploding with the same torque curve it would have been great (I kept hitting the rev limiter and I wasn't misbehaving).  The rotax powerplant really addresses every issue I had with the Buell I rode.

I'd likely buy the 1125R over the XB12R simply because of the powerplant (or non-powerplant as it were), but the XB12R looks so much better (IMHO). Don't get me wrong I really like the 1125R, I even like the looks...but the XB12R seems to fit together better and I actually like how the Sportster mill looks in that frame.

I bet next yr at some point, I'll probably see one @ Nelson Ledges. I'd bet they'll be a good seller, and riders will want to try them out at the track.
They have a XB12R class @ Nelson Ledges, and you have to be 50(yrs old) or older. I'd love to do that class, I'm old enough but I don't have a XB12R race bike. They make good lap Xs. For those of us that like to put miles on around a track, HP isn't everything.Or I would have bought a gsx-r instead of a SV. I don't plan on buying any (new) motorcycles at this time. But I bet its a great bike.

a buddy of roamr and I, rides a white xb9 at nelsons all the time and is faster then stink. he is already talking about buying one. i cant keep up with him now if he gets the 1125 i will never see him on a ride again. i am thinking that the 1200 is a better deal now that they dropped the price a grand from last year. the new 1125 is nice but a bit pricey even if it is faster. they retail for 11995, add in the mark up the dealer are sure to tack on the first year. but they are still a cool bike. and i am waiting to see one in person to pass judgement on the looks.
