It sure looks like the fork legs are painted. I'm guessing taking some scotchbrite to my legs to clean them up would be a bad idea.
What would be a good idea to clean this up ( if it's possible ) ?

Clean em up, scotchbrite is ok clear coat em, get a roll of silver/chrome/gold rock liner foil in a roll from pep boys. Take your time they will look like chrome if you do! I do that when my bikes are new, looks good and like seat covers, you have a new looking seat when its time to trade or ? Easier to keep looking good to. Or just paint em! :beers: :motorsmile:

look at my Bandit pic and you can see the chrome stuff i used on the bottom half of my forks. :beers:

Do you have a B6? The B6 legs are painted while I believe the B12 is natural. If you take scotch brite to B6 legs you will have some nice scratched paint. It may be best to strip them and polish them out like folks have done with the rims.

It's a B12.
They look painted to me.
