jwalters and I spent saturday at an NHRA drag strip about an hour from town. $10 to get in and watch the fun; rail cars, old muscle cars, a grocery-getter, an F-150, a Chrystler 300, a wenkel-powered coke machine , and a good handfull of bikes. Some were actual drag bikes, and others were not far from stock crotch rockets.
Here's the fun part, for $25 you can race what'choo got. I'm not sure of all the restrictions, but they seem much less strict than at a track-day. Basically, you just need a helmet and a leather jacket. Again, I'm probably simplifying a bit.... I've been thinking in spans of quarter miles ever since, wondering how my slightly tweaked G1 would fare.
Does anyone have any experience with this kind of stuff? Sure looks like a blast, and relatively safe (start at your own pace, etc.).

Here is a link to a picture of a friend who races supersport GSXR1100s.

I have a lot of experiance dragracing motorcycles, if you get the chance, try it. My Bandit's best pass was 9.78 at 139 mph and it is still a good street bike.

Terrebandit & I went to a local dragstrip and it looks like a lot of fun....15 dollars got you plenty of runs and I just might have to try it sometime. Got to be a great feeling to wick it out with no fear of a ticket!!

Drag racing can be lots of fun. I spent all last summer beatin up the bandit at the strip. My buddy bought a 600 soon to be a 750 just to race. This year I decided am going to buy another 1200 and turn it onto a track bike. Unfortunately I have that mental deficiency, You know the one, the part of your brain thats says thats good enough? Yep, lost it, all I can think about is going faster or maybe alittle faster than that. I plan on being in the 8`s next year thats my goal and it will be done aboard a bandit.

You have that as well?
It's a horrible wasting sickness that leaves your wallet empty and wrinkled, truely a tradegy!
Unfortnatly, the only known cure for this decimating illness is to marry into a rich family who can support you. So far, I'm not having much luck with that.

Hey, Land Shark, was that Earlville? That's a nice track. I go there once in a while. You should also check out Cedar Falls and Cordova, IL.

Ya, it is Earlville he is talking about. What bike do you take there? I have been by the Cedar Falls track, that is only a 1/8th mile correct? I here Cordova is awsome!

Yup, Earlville. Just south of Highway 20. Do you race the SV there?

I take my SV650 to Earlville and Cedar Falls sometimes. All three tracks are quarter mile. Cordova is a big track, lots of pit area and they usually get some of the bigger races. I'm going to the World Series of Drag Racing there August 25-28. I try to make it to that race every year to see the top fuel dragsters. It's a fun race. Something for everyone. If you've never gone to it, you should try to make it this year.

That sounds great! Thanks for the info  I'll gather my posse and hopefully check it out on that saturday.
