I'm buying diesel at close to $3 a gallon. Spring is here and I love taking those spur of the moment trips to the east side of the state for fishing, etc. but we won't be taking so many of those. With China, India, & Pakistan rapidly developing, increases in world consumption will be huge. I see $4 to $5 a gallon.

diesel for this trip was 2.46 in indy, 2.54 in ky and 2.65 in ga.... my conclusion to this is whats it gonna be when we get into the storm season

Gas prices are going up so fast... I won't get into the politics or point fingers but is doesn't seem logical the price swings so much so quickly. With that said... the Bandit is still the most fun for the gasoline dollar when compared to so many other activities. A double-sawbuck and some twisty roads will fill up a whole day on the cheap. Glad I got back into riding when I did cuz several other pursuits are now just too expensive.

You guys should check out the April issue of Discover magazine. There's an article titled Anything Into Oil about making oil out of biological waste. It's a follow up article about a company that had developed a relatively efficient process of turning biological matter into oil using heat and pressure just like the earth does, but in a much more timely fashion. They now have a functional plant in Missouri that produces oil for around 40 dollars a barrel after subsidies, from the waste byproducts of a turkey processing plant.

The more they refine the process and the more plants they build the cheaper it would get. Plus, it would theoretically slow the greenhouse effect because we would no longer be adding carbon dioxide from under the earth to the atmosphere, we would just be cycling it.

The end of dependence on middle east oil may be in sight!

Stop your bitching guys, come down here for some real Bullshyte ripoff fuel prices. Now I know you guys work on us gallons and I dont have the conversion.
But heres the conversion to imperial gallons
$1.36 per litre, regular gas.
600 ml = I imperial pint.
8 pints = 1 gallon
1 imperial gallon = 4.8 litres
= $6.52 per imperial gallon.

And some Euro countries are being stiffed even harder.
It's high time OPEC went and F*#*#d itself, why?
cause they been f*#*#*g us for years.

Try $1.40 per litre in Country NSW - and it's due to go up just in time for the Easter Long Weekend. YeHa....how Effing unusual....add to this NSW's Double Demerit Point/Double Fine Weekend and you've got more good reasons to stay home.....I unfortunately promised my wife and kids that we'd go down to Melbourne to see the rest of the family. I think we'll take the car...not because of the petrol prices...because it's easier NOT to speed in the Camry and the Treasurer has more points left than I do.

I don't know about things in Australia, but in the U.S. there is plenty of domestic oil available. But for several decades the crazy so-called environmentalists have all but shut down exploration and drilling. The have had an incredibly negative economic impact on our country and transportation expenses. The continental shelves are loaded with oil. But we ban the drilling.

It's like the government really wants to do as much as possible to help foreign suppliers make money, rather than letting the home-grown industry have it.

Maybe it's a conspiracy! We help use up everyone else's oil, then we still have plenty for ourselves!

You can get the conversion real easy (along with lots of other conversions) for free.

1 US gallon = 0.8326738 Imperial gallon
1 Imperial gallon = 1.20095 US gallon

1 US gallon = 3.785412 Liters (or litres)

The one thing I still don't understand is yes, fuel prices are high because of the cost of a barrell of crude. Why then are the oil companies posting record profits in the billions? I think they're selling on speculation, which is why you see the large price swings, and skimming the top.

It's called "taking advantage of the situation". We're at war in the area where we get our oil, so "Hey, let's capitolize on this and rip off our people". C'mon, you know it's true. How else can they raise the price of gas 40 cents in one day only to decrease it 20 cents the next. Nobody can tell me there's a real logical reason for doing that. Fargin' Bastages!
