Title: Good customer service from Givi
Post by: oldandslow on February 22, 2007, 11:42:36 PM
I've got a Givi E52 "Maxia" monokey topcase on my '02 B12.  Use it nearly every day for commuting (briefcase, notebook PC, change of clothes, etc), shopping (2 small bags of groceries), even recycling runs!

After 4 years I broke the plastic "head" on one of the keys - had been using it for leverage to "pop" the handle open; should have merely released the lock and then pushed the large "button" on the case.  Clearly my fault.

No big deal, still had the second key.  Called Givi and asked about buying a backup key.  For security reasons they won't send a "cut" key, but could send a blank.

Or, they offered, why not just send me a new cylinder with a pair of keys?  That way I don't have to get a key cut.

Total time from on-line inquiry to receipt of cylinder-and-keys - 9 days.

Cost:  $0.00

That's my idea of great customer service!  I'd have been happy to pay for the replacement parts.

It's my second Givi case, and it won't be my last!

Rob, ridin' in the Nor Cal winter rain, glad the Givi is waterproof ;)

Good to hear Rob. I put an E36 Topcase on my bike and really love it. Once I get to work, laptop and assorted work related stuff out, helmet and gloves in, and I'm ready to go.  I don't even have 100 miles on the bike yet, so mine is not exactly a time tested review, but take it for what it's worth! I also put the Givi A600 windshield on and I like it so far. On the highway it leaves my helmet out in the breeze with a minumum of buffetting, but takes the wind off my chest.
