I seem to remember a thread last year that some one was out shooting video on their Bandit but could not find their thread. I figured I would have to start another one!
I picked up a new JVC mini DV over the weekend and figured I would post the most recent try!

GSFStiny,
I left South Eastern Ohigho in 1984 to find the California sun. I lived about 100 miles north of you in Belpre and remember the death slide in the cinders!
The only video I've got of me

curious,
I left the Bay Area (Antioch) in 1998 to get the f*ck away from the fog! I'm starting to get the feeling I'm running from something!!!!!

Now I remember what I was running TO it was more "SUN" I like it when we can ride all winter and not have to wear a snowmobile suit!

This is the first Video I had ever shot, I was out with my brother inlaw last December on Christmas day (the weather was in the low 80's). The quality was low due to the dark windscreen but, my crash in January took care of that problem!

Without giving away too much - which part NSW is it?????
-
It is a bit of the old road coming out of Brooklyn.
-
I must get to that part of the state before the NSW Cops make it impossible to ride the old road to it's full potential.....
-
They already have. 90% of it has been reduced to 60kph and there is only that one spot I took the video on which is still 80kph.
With the crap resurfacing and all the coppers I don't really bother with it any more. A mate was booked up there not long ago and the cop that nabbed him actually said "this road will be will be much better when we finally get rid of you motorcyclists".
Now days most riders head out to Wollombi and the Putty.
-
No wonder the cops are messing with you guys everyone is on the wrong side of the road!

Hey Mongo, how about some info on the camera setup? Maybe a pic? how much does something like that cost??
I'd like to have some video's like that to get me throught hte winter :thanks:
-
hey mongo, how did you mount your cam on your bike? i'm thinking of mounting a camera on my bike on the fork lower down, or I could have it on my swing arm for some cool views. I ordered a mini spy cam off ebay for cheap.
(Before you say it yes im sad)
-
Todays ride was shot from Turbo Bobs reverse mount set up (rigged on the non used exaust hanger) on his ZX-1400!
(http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j41/02-mongo/th_Gixer9-4-2006.jpg) (http://s77.photobucket.com/albums/j41/02-mongo/?action=view¤t=Gixer9-4-2006.flv)
You can pick up a camera mount at http://www.sportbikecam.com/ I copied mine from the one Turbo Bob picked up for his ZRX 1200R!
I have some very talented friends who are machinists!
We rigged the reverse mount camera onto Bob's ZX 1400 using the camera mount for his ZRX 1200 and putting a 3" x 5/16" bolt through the exhaust hanger that he no longer needs!

Where in Socal are you? Those roads here in L.A.? The names aren't ringing any bells but I don't always pay attention to what they call them I just ride them.
I am in West Hills and always looking for some fellow Bandito's.

 I'm trying to download the flv's, but i can't! :taz:
I try to collect all nice, cool, relevant videomaterial i can find.
I have tried the Videodownloader plugin on Firefox, but it seems it's only useful for Youtube specifically...
of course i coud have asked directly for the originals, but i'm shy

I recently went to a graphics convention in Boston where I saw this tiny video cam that looks like it would be ideal for this stuff. It records directly to a memory card in MPEG4 format, so there' s no tape transport system, something which does not necessarily like bumps and vibrations. It also takes stills at 11 MegaPixel resolution and even plays MP3s if you get bored on the road. Check it out:

I picked up 20 Gig JVC hard disk and it did not get along with the bike at all! It is great for recording the kids Birthday Party but no good on the bike.
The harmonics on the bike freaks out the data transfer, and the hard drive just takes a shit. You also need to be careful with the higher end mini DV's and digital High 8's the optical stabilization will also give you a messed up picture.
I use the JVC Model GR-DR370U in the manual mode and turn off the optical stabilization!

The hard disk units are sensitive, yes, but this is a solid state unit (storage-wise), it records to an SD memory card, there are no moving parts. No tape, no hard drive. It's pretty small, too.

New concept on the Labor Day ride, split screen! I know this would have worked better if the cameras were on the same bike but I'm slower than Bob and the guy on the Gixer and I was just messing with the software!

The latest experiment consisted of mounting both cameras on my bike just to see what happened, this was the result!
(http://i77.photobucket.com/albums/j41/02-mongo/th_pictureonpictureexperiment.jpg) (http://s77.photobucket.com/albums/j41/02-mongo/?action=view¤t=pictureonpictureexperiment.flv)
The best parts of the ride did not come out due the lens cap on the aft camera flopping in front of the lens the majority of the time!
It was still a good ride with or without the video!

Why do they say it's not available in stores? That sounds gimmicky to me. And if I'm putting out several hundred dollars, I really want to know what I'm getting and how it's warrantied. Guess I'd need to find some reviews.
