Hey i need help! I got this crazy craving i can't seem to shake off to put the old trusty Bandit out to pasture! Busa on my mind, even though i can't justify it? Please help me get over this sickness before its toooo late!!!! Maybe this Saturday $11200.00 out the door for a limited pearl, with 98 B12s 37k miles for 2k trade... I can afford it. Tell me why i shouldn't please... :duh:
-
busas are just something everyone should let themselves
experience/ride; its not something you need to keep/own.
bandits (even though its still easy and cheap to get them)
with all the work and love you put in are just things you tend to keep.
you can't have both for awhile?
-
Busa's haven't changed...if you've got room in the stable and can afford the increase in insurance why not get an '02 or '03? You could pick one up for about $7,500 max. That keeps your bandit and gives you $$ left over to have a pro paint the beast in a pearl white!
-
I saw the 'Busa in Pearl White at the Cycle show. They are sweet. That color is just awesome. It looked cool under the flourescent lights and I saw one last Sunday glistening in the sun. There's something about one of the (if not thee) fastest production motorcycle in the world sitting there saying "buy me". Even Jay Leno comments on the 'Busa saying for the $$ you get mind bending performance. If you can afford it and the ergos won't bother you, go for it
-
I say, Keep the bandit and buy the busa. Every man should have at least two bikes.
-
Here's a reason: For a about $2000 you can go with the Holeshot upgrades, and make just as much power. How cool would be to have a Bandit that would keep up with a Busa? When/if I get a Bandit, that's exactly what I plan on doing. You can check it out at www.holeshot.com. Seems a lot cheaper than buying a Busa, and you'll get to keep your Bandit.
-
They must grow some good weed up there in Cedar Rapids!
-
Ok, the Busa is a lot faster! But is it $9,000. DOLLARS Faster? I dont think so! And your Insurance is more than likely going to triple. And at the end of the day when the NEW has worn off, you will still owe all that money.
-
i hear next year it will be a 1600 somthing busa
-
Here's why I don't want one . . .
1. They're the most popular sportbike to bling out - sorta making them the HD of the sportbike world.
2. They're like Trans-Ams were in the 80's... you had to have one to be cool or with the in crowd.
3. They're fugly. (Actually, this is my #1 reason.)

If you did all the work yourself, you probably could build a B12 to be as quick as a 'Busa for $2000. You certainly could for half of the price difference between Daytona's trade-in price and OTD 'Busa price.

Where'd ya hear that? There's been rumors floating for a couple years that a new Busa is just around the corner, but it keeps failing to materialize. (The ones I've read peg the engine size at ~1400cc.) No spy photos and few artist concepts. The concepts I've seen are from outside sources merely speculating what it might look like. I'm thinking now with the new Kawi ZZR/ZX14, Suzuki will fire back with a new and improved Hayabusa, but they shouldn't have to bump up to a 1600 to do that. Besides, Kawi claims their new "Busa beater" still doesn't violate the 300 KPH gentlemen's agreement... off the showroom floor anyway. Not to say a few minor tweeks wouldn't put it well over the top though.

dragracing buddy with bling bling busa's!LOL

Well folks! Everything pointed me to trade her in.. Almost shed a tear :crybaby: as TJ the sales guy rode her around to the used bike pen. I washed it, drenched it with my armorall clean all solution, took a leisurely 30 mile ride to Deland Zukster Dealer! It ran great just like always, was way down on reserve (just happened that way) $11,100.00 tx, title, tag, 3 yr extended warranty & carbon fibre stickons for tank,For a Blue & silver 06 Busa. Got 3 for the old girl. Can't say much about anything yet with 30 miles under the tires. The ride position isn't bad! It puts a bit more stress on your wrists! But all else feels comfy. 6 gears keeping it @ 5k rpm's or under and just like the Bandit its only a though away of got er done with speed, passing etc. New pipe smell gets gone & new soundier mufflers (or muffler) and i think i may like it almost as much as!! Next question is CAN I STAY? I'm selling my Truder too does that count. Any one interested? If you are coming down to Daytona for bike races etc Buy it,ride it while your here! Tag can be left on for your stay! Just a thought! 2001 1400 corbin seat, sissy bar ext, drag pipes, carb needles. Hauls a$$!! 8600 miles! 1 ding on the tank under the flag sticker from a bad golfer's ball off the 5th tee $$#$# AM I PUSHING MY LUCK?? Surfed the Busa club on web last night for answers! They can't hold a 10mm to this site!!

Dont know what that is on seat? but its just the picture! #1 except for the ding...

Congradulations on the new Busa there Daytona! I had a busa once myself. I think it was an 02 model, silver on silver. At that time I was having trouble with my hands going numb on it so I sold with only 1500 miles on the odometer. It is a wicked fast bike, especially once you get it over 6K rpm. Seems like it makes peak torque around 6K to 6.5K rpm and peak power around 9500 rpm, so that tells you where to shift to make max time. The busa is well engineered in the way it delivers power, pretty linear really. Plenty of low end but still has a raging top end. I remember it would violently throw me back in all six gears. Be careful though, it really is sneaky fast. The salesman who sold me mine later told me that it's the number one death bike, that is, more people die on that bike as a percentage of owners than any other. That was back in 02 though.
-
Sure, we'll let you stay. How could we say no when we've let traitors who bought Speed Triples, VFR's, ZRX's, FZ1's and who knows what else stay?
At least it's still a Suzuki - even if it is an Eye-abuser.
:congrats: on your new ride! May you always keep the shiney side up and get many miles of enjoyment out of it.
I still think they're fugly though... :stickpoke:
-
Thanks Red01. Yes i agree they are! The two ends are the problem! I don't like the deep space nine, space Odyssey Look! It's mine now!! I still look at it (her) with the why did i need it when the Bandit did it all and more! The windshield needs to be taller, The seat is comfy but looks like something you would cover for a soap box racer. The engine, exhaust, etc is stuffed away like its something to hide! And i miss my hard stand already! The seat/or hump thingy, they say will hold a gal of milk if moded i left @ the dealer.. Will pick it up later! I don't think it will ever get put on it! It looks like it's something for the hood! Which is where a bunch of these reside i know! But they do slink around the corners better than the Bandit and the wildcat, scalding, get up and gone!! Even at break in rp's GONE! As if i need more? Anyone thinking of one of these go out and rent one first! I wonder? THANK'S for letting me stay. And if anyone knows of a decent site for these let me know please.. The ones i found doing a search are unkept, don't work, or i'm just spoiled by this one!!! :beers: :thanks:
-
You can get a centerstand for them...

Hey now that wasn't nice! Want to go for it? Straight line that is! & now i have another one, more posts than you b4cruz.. :stickpoke: :beers:
-
Congrats on the busa. I think you made the right choice to sell the bandit. I'd want greater diversity if I had two bikes and the busa and bandit are not that much different. You are just trading some comfort for more power.
-
Hey why didn't you good folks warn me these type people are out there!!
http://www.labusas.org/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=73701 Man i didn't realize this came with buying one of these! Stay with the Bandit! Its safer and makes much more sense! :duh:
-
That's LA Busas for ya... their level of maturity is low - as is many sport-bike forums.
-
Hey Red01 Do you ever rest? U and others like you make this site what it is! I was tryin to get some word on exhaust for the new bike! They have to go ASAP.. But looks like its not as simple as the Bandits are! Fuel remap module or? I can't believe the RS3 Yoshi street would be noticed by the oxy sensor. :beers:
-
Whew! That labusa bunch needs to go back home to get some more home training. Apparantly they had none. The whole conversation involves just cussing each other out. Not all busa owners are like that though.
-
That 'Busa board gave me a headache!
Congrats, Daytona...very nice bike!
Since it's injected it will need either a Power Commander or a Cobra Fi2000 (i think). The bad part is that they will cost $250 - $350 on top of the pipes. The good part is that it will be plug-and-play. Those units will come programmed for every major can manufacturer to get the best performace without going elbow deep into your bikes fuel managment system ala the bandit's carbs. Let us know how things work out. Good luck and enjoy! :congrats:
-
Yup, you have to add a module into the loop... the modern equivalent to a jet kit.
IIRC, the Busa's EFI is open loop, if it was a closed loop system, the O2 sensor would probably be able to make up for simple mods like a new exhaust system. I know in cages, the closed loop setups will even handle more serious mods.
-
Hey Red01 Do you ever rest? U and others like you make this site what it is! :beers:
I won't be on in the evenings as much as I used to since I just had a shift change @ work, so you'll see more of my posts earlier in the day now.

Well i was going to but LaBusa.org said that was for ^%$$%%*^*&*& a torn T shirt, beach shorts, with blown out flip flops were all the busa rider needs @ 175+!! That way you don't ruin the better clothes they need to plant your parts in! Too hot for the safety gear here now! I have a J rocket that works until it gets hotter, & yes a good armoured heavey one for cooler nights. The prob is they were bought for the redish Bandit! :crybaby: and wouldn't be fashionable enough for the busa! J/kiden! I am kinda like a buds mother i knew a few years ago! she had a yellow Cuda fast back with skinny bias tires, it wouldn't start one day cause it ran on its last cyl's 2 only. I popped the hood thinking it had a slant 6!! Yep 429 w/x ram. Just because its got it some don't have to use it! But i sure got to do something to get some sound out of this sewing machine sounding Behemoth!! :beers:

I rode once once and it was a smooth ride and fast, but not something I would not want to own.

Actually they are quite different in a lot of ways. The busa doesn't like the twisties as well as the bandit. Glad to hear that you like it. If it makes you happy, then go for it.
-
429 Cuda...? A rare beast indeed.

429 Cuda...? A rare beast indeed.
:stickpoke: Yep bet you didn't know they were all ford powered did ya? Ok one of those fat valve covered, with the spark thingy's in the middle of em, 7mpg down hill! Motors!! Saw one in a Boss Hoss here the other day!!! :duh: :beers:
-
Like this 426 Hemi? :stickpoke:
-
Actually..the 429 Boss was a semi hemi. Still a ford but a good ford. They used them breifly in Nascar late 60's or early 70's. It was one of the few engines that would give the 426 Hemi a run for the money.
-
Mostly applies to drag racing in Top Fuel & Funny Car classes though. The Hemis weren't as domaneering in Pro-Stock and slower classes. The wedge motors (anyone's) tended to have better bottom end and mid range grunt.
Here's something you don't see too often anymore, a Chevy Hemi:
(Block by Chevy, heads & manifolding by Arias)
These were actually very competitive to the Chrysler based Hemis it Top Fuel & Funny Car and are still competitve in off-shore marine racing and tractor pulls.
This Arias/Chevy hemi motor is going into the T-bucket roadster one of my co-workers is building:

The reason for my query is as follows. I have a Technic armoured suit and I find the pants bind behind the knees even on a Bandit. OK for 80 miles but circulation restrictive and after that I've gotta get the legs out front regularly or stand up, (breezy).
I tried out a Busa twice =COOL! However my legs were bent even more than a Bandit. I didn't own Armour then -I don't think the pants would work with a Busa... Still, dam near bought one THREE times. One was the Copper coloured (98?) job which was unrestricted and Speedo to 350K or over 200mph! Musta been a bit of a slug though. The guy put a jet kit and Yoshi cans plus other stuff on it so he wouldn't be late for work.
Maybe he just needed more power for towing a trailer 'O hawgs 't market.
-
Looks really expensive!
Let's just say you could buy a really nice MV Agusta or Ducati for the cost of that motor. . .
. . . or you could have a garage full of Suzukis.
-
Congrats on the Busa! When I pay off my Bandit, I want to get a Busa. I'm itching for a gixxer 750, but I think the ergo's would kill me. The Busa didn't seem as bad as the gixxer. Great choice on the color. I recently bought three Maisto 1:12 scale Diecast model's of an 06' Busa, R1, and a ZX-10R

My model is the color of the real Busa pic, not the model pic I posted.
-
Congrats on the Busa. I would buy one but my old frame just does not suit the ergos. Enjoy the new ride. :congrats:
-
Hey all! Thanks to the 80+deg great weather! I am 100 miles closer to being able to open this beast up. Going to do it right, or try hard not to go over 6k revs anyway. I don't know about the twisty's not being done on busa vs the Bandit? And the faster it goes the more it shines. The lean fwd that puts the stress on the wrists is advantageous @ big ticket! speeds! Which is where i spend a lot of my commuting time. Runs on reg gas just fine, ok by the manual, even though its 11 to 1 ratio. The on board trip meters also record your mpg which said 42 & 38. I know they aren't accurate! So far other than fugly as Red01 said what's not to like. I still get sad when i open the link to my Trusty Bandit... :duh:

And you still have to look at it.
Well, you asked... :stickpoke:

Hope you enjoy the 'busa. :congrats:

Ok i may deserve the slam or two! But just got back from a visit to the Dealer i got it from. Good thing he just sold my B12 and it was about out the door! But i got to say! Guys these bikes will do it all (BUSA) Not bad around town and really shine on the road (85+) Just put my Yoshi TRS Cans on and after 100 miles of mixed roads the reading from the ECM is 42MPG w/ reg gas. Double checked it from fill up and it actualy figured 44mpg. WOW! And this ain't goin slow!!! Hey Red 01 let me know when i'm about to be thrown off the site I'll shut up... :duh:

You're doin' fine... just picking on the new Eye Abuser owner. :beers:

I still think they're fugly though... :stickpoke:
sure I'll admit to being a traitor of sorts, but I'll trade my ZRX for a B6 at a drop of a hat, hmmmmmm.
And I agree Busa's are efen FUGLIE things even if they Suzuki.
But I must admit a busa front end would grace the B6 just nice.
