Ok.. I could swear I read this here, but since I can't find it anywhere with any of the search words I've used, here it goes.

I found a link to this somewhere, and since the 919 needs a front tire, and since I don't have a centrestand on it, we built this.
It's pretty sturdy, don't push on it if it's not loaded, but it's holding the bike securely right now. The parts may be $48 in the states, but here we get bent over for $90 in parts, but since it will save me about $40 on the first tire change, and it can be used for all 4 of our bikes, it should pay for itself quickly.
This is ours, with the 919 "hanging" from it

I put the motocycle lift under the forks for the night, for my own peace of mind. I had terrible visions of the carnage that would happen if the bike managed to fall. Squished Dita, Bashed up 919, and somehow, I know that the dirtbikes ( behind me in this pic) would get into the action as well.

That will work.I have had stands made for my Bandit front and back. The front has pegs that fit in the bottom of the forks but they could be a better fit. Wants to slip out if not just right. But once its up its stable.

In my garage, I have two eye bolts in the ceiling, and with my come along, I can lift the front or rear, or both if need. I have a set of forks that have been shorten 3" for dragracing, so it required a easy way to lift the front.

we considered something along the same lines, but given that we don't have a garage, just a shed that's built with 1x4 framing :duh: ,.. it seemed that stand alone might be the way to go.

Im replacing my front, cant u just put on center stand and weight down the back side?? I guess the engine is the heavier part of the bike, but it cant be that heavy?

thats how my friend and i worked on his '75 cb550 fork. we put it up on the center stand and ratchet strapped the swingarm to a big rock

Yup. If you have a center stand you jack up the front with a cinder brick and some bits of 2 x 4. Just make sure it's not resting on your exhaust pipe.

Absolutely it works to do that, if you have a centerstand. The 919 doesn't, so we needed something else. I also feel more secure having the bike suspended for things like fork work. When r_outsider was doing the fork seals on the CBR600 we had a few years back, we used the same stand. A lot of sport bikes (Gixxers, CBRs, etc) have no centerstands. Of course sometimes people also take them off for other reasons too.
