I found this instead
http://houston.craigslist.org/mcy/191992400.html
Seems like a reasonable price for only 3100 miles.
I already have a matching helmet too.
Plus I won't have to get a loan, I will have just enough.
I have already talked to the guy and am hoping to go pick it up Saturday.

Banbit. :duh:
Congrats man, you're gonna have a lot of fun on that bike.
PLUS, no stupid bike payments.
:bigok:

Banbit. :duh:
I didn't even notice that.
Well its not a done deal but hopefully not one will get there before me.

You might want to offer him 4K. And quote Kelly blue book as:
Trade-in=#3020 and retail=$4390.

Sure it has low miles, but that also means you may need to do some reconditioning on the fuel system if it was not ridden much.
Or pay it, it's your money. Me personally, I wouldn't pay 4800 for a 2002.

Well, Mike's right about it being high, but the mileage is exceptional! I don't know. It amounts to a "new" '02. Try to dicker.
Regardless of price, you'll like that bike.
You can't get down before Saturday to see it? Probably won't sell before then at that price, but you never know.

My usual advice to people buying 4 year old bikes: look at the maintenance items you'll have to do. New tires, new brake lines, new fuel/vac lines (maybe), etc. You are looking at another 500 bucks on top of the price.

He said he would go down to $4500, I offered $4400 and I don't think that he is budging.
What did the bandits run new anyway?
I am not too worried about the price because deals just can't be had around here. Dealers won't work deals (I have talked to several people that have bought new around here) and I think that effects some for sale by owner sales. Here is one that has 42K and they want $4300.

And another that advertised for $4500.

I sold my bike for more than I thought I would get back in East Texas.
I will try to get it cheaper but I do not think that the price will keep me from it. It beats getting ripped by a dealer plus I won't have payments to worry about.
Thanks for all your input. I will try to play the maintenance card for a better price.

Pics and impressions ASAP!

seems like a good deal, if you consider the condtion. For sure I'd pay more for a bike "like new" with 3100 miles vs saving $500 for one with 25k miles.
for the record, my B12 has 52K miles & has been down twice...I also have a lot of the mods we've talke about (s/o, jet kit, race teck, shock, windshiled, etc, etc). My bike has never gotten 40 mpg, but it's a Gen 1 bike and gets about 33.
I think the B12 is more versatile platform that FZ-6. You can be sportbiker, naked hooligan, or gentlemen Beemer guy ...Now a new FZ-1 would get my attention.
