In a perfect world, we would have a choice of a motorcycle that is decently priced (under $8000) that had a shaft drive, comfortable seat, fuel injection, and the power to run in the 10's.

I know where you are coming from. That's why I bought an FJR1300 4 years ago - fuel injection, big seat and shaft drive. It corroded through 4 British winters so I had to change it this year. I hate chains but with a Bandit 1250 being so much fun and half the price of a new FJR, I had to make a compromise.
I'd love a bike with the power and agility of the Bandit 1250 but with a shaft drive. Why is there such a gap in price between chain-driven bikes and shafties? A chain is so crude and shaft so much cleaner that it's surprising that more bikes don't have them. Even some small commuter scooters have a small shaft.
The only other alternative is a dry belt like that used on some Buells and BMWs. I'd settle for that if I can do without the mess that a greasy chain produces.

The thought of getting a hold of the necessary parts from a GSX1100G to convert my B12 has often crossed my mind, but I'm reluctant to mess with a bike that works so well.
