2 or 3 die from mishaps during bike get together in Kissimmee FL! Any help on easing the better half's mind! Other than a fat ins policy, that bikes are safe as any! I'm looking fwd to riding up to N. C. to Boss. Any statistics?

You could start showing her all the articles in the news about cage deaths...

I did a little research on this not to long ago and IIRC I found the following 2 ways to reduce your risk of becoming a statistic:
1) Dont' drink and ride. One of the most common accident is a single vehicle accident (ie motos only). This occurs when you try and go off-roading in a turn and either make love to a tree or imitate Sting at the end of Quadraphenia (sp?) but forget to jump off. Now, this goes for riding over your abilities as well but I know when I'm sauced up I feel like I can go round a decreasing radius turn at 120 (Tourist Trophy PS2 only, of course)
2) Where helmut? There helmut! I don't want to start anything with this, but I think you stand a better chance if you wear a full face DOT approved helmut than if you don't. Full gear helps too because when you take 250g's to the dome (and that's with a helmut) AND have most of your skin removed on your shoulder/back your prognosis isn't good.
There is not much you can do about "left-handers" other than be cautious and keep to the posted limit when you feel vulnerable. I know we all fear being rear-ended (and not just in the Turkish prison way but on the road too) but I think it was proven that it isn't in the top 3. Don't tear my head off if I'm wrong...I know i've seen some scary pics of rear-ends (please disredard the joke in there).
Just my 2 cents!
