Hate that ! People look right through you, like you don't register in their eyeballs.... You can see them looking right in your eyes and turn in front, I used to get in the habit of flicking my high beams like a strobe when approaching a left turner that looked oblivious.
I gotta admit though, the cycle may have been a bit over the speed limit in the pic. If it was a 20-35mph zone, definitely... still no excuse for dimwitted driver not paying attention to his turn defensively.. hopefully the accident didn't get ruled 100% cyclist fault due to speed, because he was over by 10mph or so.
When I was in high school, a little foreign car pulled out in front of me (me in a 85' GMC truck, which they're pretty tough). I was doing 45mph in a 35 zone on wet road, skidded about 20-30ft (this idiot didn't even look before pulling out, and I was on top of them-even at 35 on dry concrete we woulda crashed). My front bumper got dented and I bent my steering wheel from impact, but I smashed the back of the litle foreign job good-her trunk was almost in her front seat. She had some pretty serious injuries and the accident was ruled my fault-Failure to control speed-No way! Screwed my insurance for years until I turned 25 I was in state high risk pool category. . :duh: :roll:

Puts a different perspective on things.

My worst fear.
I know you can die from that kind of collision. Anyone more experienced than me estimate a percentage of survival on that one?
Can't tell if he was wearing full gear or just jacket or what.

I place a 50/50 fault here. The driver definitely thought they were king of the road and the world would stop for them. It's hard to say in the video if the car had it's blinkers on. That car didn't look like it was stopping, however, so I think the biker didn't appear to be paying too much attention there. After all, that car wasn't flying into that turn.

That's sick, hope the biker was ok, and the car driver got some terrible illness and died as a result of it.
I'm not just saying that cause I'm a biker, I also have a car. But that clearly is the car driver's fault.

It does look he has full leathers on, and he didn't hit the car which may have saved him. It's not the wipe out that kills you it's what you hit afterward that does the damage. Why was she turning so slow? And at least put on your blinkers. However I do think that the motorcyclist should have been paying a little more attention. I look for silly shit like that everyday.

What is the stat for motorcycle accidents happening in intersections/driveways? i think its something like 90% or greater. Doing the speed limit thru intersections/driveways like that is bad, speeding is even worse.

To me, it DID look like the bike was a 'bit' fast...but there seemed to be some confusion on the part of the cage driver..he/she started the turn then slowed almost to a stop. Saw the bike, 'wondered' about it, almost stopped, blocking the bike's path the finished it off by rolling out.
I try to eliminate the 'confusion' of these nitwits, when i run across them, by slowing, high beam on, weaving in lane to try to attract some sort of attention behind those dead eyes and keep reading what's going to happen next. The last resort is to aim toward the center line where the car is leaving from, hoping to get around the right side of the car as it pulls away. It's a crap shoot with these a-holes.

Well! this is almost exactly how my accident went! only difference was much closer situation (all on a crossing) and the nitwit was further in her maneuver...

What I love is how all the other cages who were down around the area of where the rider prob came to a stop, just continued to roll on by not even stopping to check on the rider! But who can blame them I guess. I mean heck, it was prob the last day of that big sale at Target and well... golly... they just couldn't stop to help or they might miss the sale!
Here's a scare mental image. What if that bike had one of those new Honda airbags? That image in my head seems like it would have been worse than going over the bars.
