Thousands of tickets issued in OPP blitz

STAFF REPORTER

Picture the puzzled dad: He's just been called by the OPP about his 22-year-old daughter's motorcycle — the one officers last saw speeding away from them at 225 km/h.

The only problem is, his daughter didn't own a motorcycle ... that he knew of.

And then he learned about his daughter's new "boyfriend" — the married guy, the one who talked her into using her credit card to buy him a $17,000 motorcycle.

That was just one of the stories OPP ran across during a weekend blitz that, by late yesterday, resulted in thousands of tickets issued — with more than 800 tickets in the Toronto area.

But the motorcycle? That had police talking most.

Especially after they learned about the third woman — not the man's wife, not the "girlfriend" who paid for the expensive ride, but a second paramour, the one riding on the back when the bike sped away from officers Saturday.

Police wanted to stop the sporty Suzuki 1100 cc motorcycle after it was clocked at 225 km/h southbound on Hwy 400 near King City. It got away twice — the second time at an estimated 250 km/h, said OPP Sgt. Cam Woolley. Fearing a crash, police called off their pursuit, but managed to jot down the licence plate as the male driver and his tattooed female passenger sped away. Then, things got murkier when police spoke to the dad of the bike's registered owner.

"He was curious to sort it all out," said Woolley. And, when his daughter came home, dad got to the bottom of the case, and invited police back to hear the details.

The 22-year-old, Woolley said, wasn't the passenger — and to prove it, police confirmed she didn't have the tattoo that the pursuit officers had noticed on the female passenger's back.

Turns out the driver, a married 30-year-old man with children, was the "new" boyfriend of the unwitting woman, who didn't know he was married. He'd convinced her less than a week ago to buy the pricey motorcycle on her Visa card, promising to pay it back as soon as possible.

As her dad watched, she also told police she had no idea who the tattooed female passenger on her new boyfriend's motorcycle might have been.

"She had been three-timed," chuckled Woolley. "At first she was heartbroken but then became annoyed."

She co-operated with police in helping track the man down. They seized the motorcycle, which she and her father decided would be returned to the dealership, said Woolley.

Woolley said the unidentified female passenger was lucky.

"If anything happened she would have been road rash. If you fall off a motorbike at 250 km/h in halter tops and shorts, there won't be much left."

Of the tickets issued during the weekend blitz, 150 were for seatbelt violations and at least 220 vehicles were taken off the road for being unsafe.

It's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow.

Oh you know me, I'm down with OPP.

Really, I don't care for the way I was portrayed in this article.  Chicks just dig the Svenster!  But they never did say what kinda bike it was.

The police here can't distinguish between thier arse and a hole in the ground. Let-alone what kind of motorcycle someone is riding.

Other reports said it was a GSX-R 1100. However to the best of my knowledge Suzuki doesn't make that anymore. So it's probably a GSX-R 1000,  MRSP price here is 15,000 so with taxes and all the other crap it probably came close to the said $17,000. And why haggle, when your mistress is paying.

Now my other question, is what kind of 22 year old girl has a credit card with a $20,000+ limit??? I don't have that!

And... I was never really into Naughty By Nature, but... I'm down with OPP. Just out of curiosity Sven, when where you born?  If you remember Naughty By Nature it can't be too far away from my 1978 birth date, Ha.

Damn, either you were incredibly hip in the early 90's, or your kids played that crap.
