Title: M109R vs. V-Rod (Dial-up)
Post by: Desolation Angel on December 14, 2005, 02:39:15 PM
The new M109R that is coming looks, thankfully, less Harleyesque to me.  More modern and streamlined.

Forget the price difference...who wins?  Suzi or Harley?

That may well be the uglies bike I've ever seen.

Even the Honda Rune looks better.

I think I am gonna chunder. That is possibly the most horrendous contraption ever.

What were they thinking? That headlight? Urgh

If you wanna BIG bike, it has to be the Rocket III
(http://www.thewheelieschool.co.uk/images/rocket.jpg)

It's got massive torque, it's British, and it's NOT the same as every other v-twin "classic" chop out there.

Could you please stop comparing Japenese bikes or any other bikes for that matter to Harley Davidson. You are only going to make Harley Owners mad they bought a POS for twice what you'd get from ANY other manufacturer. Harley Davidson doesn't sell motorcycles, they sell a "lifestyle(tm)" for rich urban bikers. Go here and find the truth, funny as hell

Ah, but isn't the Rocket 3 equally funky looking?  A Bonneville with a truck engine crammed in!

Seriously, that reminds me of a Honda VTX 1800...
It's even priced and powerplanted like the VTX...
The Suz is 50 lbs lighter, and $800 cheaper on the base '06 sticker...
CLICK Honda VTX 1800 (http://powersports.honda.com/motorcycles/cruiser_standard/model.asp?ModelName=VTX1800&ModelYear=2006&ModelId=VTX18CF16&ModelStyle=VTX18F16)
I dunno, maybe I need new glasses...

AGREED! Especially with that giant chrome growth on the left side of the tank!

I had a seat on this bike at the Seattle show.  It looks much better in person, especially the light colors.  Silver looked the best.  Things that were bad:  very wide tank that pushed your knees out; high, forward foot pegs that made your feet feel like they were going to drop off; rear brake lever way too close to your foot.  Last, plastic everywhere!  Very cheaply made.  They say there will be chrome accessories available, shouldn't these be standard?  Honda has had a tough time moving VTXs, I hope Suz doesn't make too many of these.

How about a BossHoss with a 350 V8, or 502 big block
http://scootplace.net/temp/V8Power.mpg  6MB

not my thing, but it is a kinda cool idea to put a old style hot rod V8 with a HOlley carb in a 1100 LB bike with a big old rear tire that just smokes when you nail at 30mph...   The 350 puts out around 350hp, the big block is just out of control at over 600hp...

Oh come on now for only $6,000.00 more you can turbo a V-ROD
(http://www.dragbike.com/dbnews/articlefiles/110205a.jpg)
Then that means you only have $30,000.00 in it and it will have the same
HP as a, er, uh GSXR1000 that cost $10,000.00 :stickpoke:
I don't relly like the style but if I had to pick one I think it would be the VTX first then the Suzuki.
OH! HD had Porshe design most of the V-ROD engine and yes you have to have metric tools to work on it

I saw a guy in Sturgis in 2000 and he had a 502 "WITH NOS" I looked at him back-it into the parking spot then I laughed a little and thought
"Oh I get it he got $2,000,000.00 from his mother and a 2" peepee from his father" :boohoo:

Since I've ridden the V-Rod, I'd pick it to beat the 109.   I think the VRod is fastest cruiser out there and has 100 lb weight advantage over the Suzuki.  The V Rod isn't much slower than a Bandit and even has stickier tires, and long wheelbase for good launch.  The riding position is ridiculous.

I think the 109 is more after the 1800 Honda and 2.0 Kaw than the V-Rod.

My last streetbike before my B12 was a Sportster.

I just don't like any of this retro-futuristic styling.  The headlight on that thing looks like a chubby falice and the rest of the bike is designed around it.

Cruisers:

My Austin HD friends bro in West Palm beach is big cruiser nut, Confederate with a 120inch motor, 4 HD's, Turbo Buell that power wheelies in 3rd on full boost, etc... etc...  Man he has thrown some serious cash in his hobby, they all sit in a shop/garage attached to the house with AC/heat, rubber mats, full shop -the whole nine yards.  And what I liked is it's actually part of the rear of the house (glass sunroom that overlooks a golf course).  Must be nice livin' the high life.  And he supposedly owns a Speedoat shop and dock/storage service in Miami (Offshore Speedboats in Miami ! YaH!  Right!)

ANyway: One of his HD's is a blower bike, I have to say that bike sounds tough with the blower always sucking air - and it is a fast pig f__cker !

All in all, he's a cool guy that's ridden all diferent style bikes for 30 years... He's just settled in on HD's and American bikes now...
