I like it.   It kinda looks like a mix between a standard and a crusier.

Saw it.  Rode it.  Passed on it.

Very nice, low mileage, '01 R1200C.

Reminded me of my Lowrider (not a good thing).  Funky handling, odd twisting during acceleration (shaft related maybe), slower than Christmas.  The most familiar thing it did (speaking of my H-D days) was to vibrate more when you twist the throttle, get louder, but not much happens acceleration-wise.

D@mn Bandit has got me spoiled with it's power and speed.  Now no cruiser is ever gonna feel right and probably no "R" series BMWs, either.

Simplifies bike shopping, though....lots less to look at.

I'm glad you passed. BMW has made some funky looking bikes, but their cruisers have to be near the top of the list for weird in my book.

Were you expecting it to be scary bad-ass like your bandit?

I guess bikes are like golf clubs and fishing poles, there's one for every occasion.  The big curse about the bandit is that it does so many things so well that you could concieveably carry on your merry way without ever owning another bike (someone was just writing about a 300k+ bandit out there...).   Not that there's anything wrong with that!

I bet there are things the r1200c does well (i.e. trips to starbucks, har).

I guess I expected more out of a BMW 1200.  God knows they're expensive enough to warrant some performance!

Right on.  I test rode one on two occations, and all I could think about is "Why the hell would they de-tune such a big engine on bike ($$) like that?"

As I see it, most to all of the Beemers are overweight and/or underpowered.
I invite all who post here to state which of them beat the Bandit's power to weight ratio.
Reliability isn't an issue. It makes me ashamed of my Big Three auto.

If you consider even modest tweaks to the Bandit engine, the above contest becomes even more bleak for the beemers.

Price is huge.  I like the adventure tourer GS model but are you really going to take a $20k bike off road?  For the money you can have a nice Bandit and get a cool dual sport like the new KTMs or Huskies.

Out of curiosity, found this in a quick search:
-power/weight ratio of R1100S is = 0.428 hp/kg
-power/weight ratio of Bandit 1200 is = 0.4579 HP/kg

That's actually closer than I was expecting....

I recall reading somewhere a long time ago that torque is an indication of acceleration and horsepower determines top speed (along with all the other variables involved).  Therefore, would comparing torque/weight ratios give a better comparison?
