Title: Misc papers for '01 1200S
Post by: Desolation Angel on August 30, 2005, 08:44:23 PM
I bought my 1200S used, an '01, so I have none of the original papers, like the "window" sticker, EPA sticker, and so forth.  Anybody have an '01 they bought new that would let me have copies of those items?

I know how to figure out my true MPG, but I'd like to know what the EPA rated the bike as getting.

Plus, I'd just like to have the papers to keep with my other documentation.

Sure would appreciate it if someone would share (scan & e-mail).  Or maybe there's a way using my VIN to get Suzuki to send me this stuff.  I imagine it's in their computers somewhere.  I've got an owner's manual, but nothing else that might have come with the bike.

PM me and I'll shoot you my e-mail address.

Thanks!

Hmm, dunno... When I bought my 01 new at Stubbs Suzuki  dealer  (Houston, TX) in April of 2001, all I got was the bill of sale and a title in the mail.  Rode away that day with the owner's manual and tool set under the seat.. No window sticker like a car, no epa statement either...  Progressive faxed a binder for insurance to the dealer, that was it...  Walked out to the bike parked out back after prep with 2 keys and a bill of sale in my pocket, Vroom... hasta lavista...

Hmmm?  I have bought several new bikes and never had an EPA mileage statement either.  Can't say that I ever needed or wanted one.  I guess they figure that motorcyclists are smarter than the average car driver and can do their own fuel economy calculations.

Oh, OK, interesting.  I haven't bought a new bike since 1980, so I was just assuming that there were similar documents/stickers like cars have.  I didn't know any better.

You guys know what the rated mpg's are for my bike?  I've been all over the Suzuki website, but can't find anywhere where they bother to tell how the bike's do mileage-wise.  I just started a log today to start determining what sort of mileage I'm getting with my style driving.

I don't think the EPA makes them rate the MPG, so they don't bother. Most stock B12's will get 40-45 mpg. Mine used to get 42.5 when it was stock under typical (for me) conditions. Gets ~3 mpg less now with the jet kit and s/o.
