MotoGP on CBS this weekend
« on: June 07, 2007, 01:57:40 PM »
Not sure how many of you follow MotoGP, but CBS will be showing the race from Barcelona this Sunday at 1:30 pm EST. Nice to see it getting regular coverage for a change.

Also coming up will be the Assen TT on June 30th, and Sachsenring on July 15th. Really hoping it gets some decent ratings. Would love to see GP gain in popularity over here in the States.

My current cable package doesn't carry Speed, so don't get to see races often unless I'm at a friend's house. And I refuse to pay $75+ to be able to only watch one replay of a race. Greedy bastards....  :banghead:

If that's the same "speed" we get, I might be persuaded to record that for you. :)  I bet the other half would like to watch it anyway.  I usually record them, then burn to DVD.

Dorna, or whatever they're called that owns MotoGp, are freaking fanatics when it comes to keeping the races to themselves. There was an R6 forum that was hosting races from the 05 season, and Dorna threatened legal action against them if it wasn't removed. They did, and no problems afterwards.

I had considered forking over the money to watch it from the MotoGP website, but if and only if a program such as Fraps could record it....for my own personal use of course

Being able to watch the race live and ONLY one replay is a crock of sh!t to me. I'm always running around so much I never know if I'll be able to watch a live race or not, let alone the fact that most races take place on the other side of the world. So if I miss that, and something comes up while watching my one replay, I'm paying money to not be able to watch a full race.

I will say that if you need "persuaded" I would rather make a, ahem, donation to the board as opposed to paying MotoGp.

LOL!  Donations are voluntary.

I can record one or two of them and send them out, let me know the times preferably in MST/MDT time but I can also look them up if you tell me the day and ET time.

The other option is that you could see if any of them live on bittorrent...

I wouldn't know what to do without Speed Channel....But I am a NASCAR fan, but it is alot of the other shows I like:  Unique Whips, Chop Cut Rebuild, Epic Ride.  lots of good stuff on there.

I would say that 90% of my TV watching is between Speed, Discovery, Science, and TLC(Overhaulin' and American Chopper&Hotrod),

If you do subscribe to MotoGP. com you can watch an unlimited number of replays of races...as well as tons of old race footage. I'm personally not in to that but rarely miss a qualifying or race. Problem being if you don't watch the race live then you will certainly get a spoiler when you go to the site, time to get creative with a newspaper to block your view. I think it you subscribe to high def you only get to watch the race twice...in high def. Nice to get all the little extras...and a full length race, all unavailable on cable. Not to mention 125 and 250. It's not perfect and you 'shouldn't' be able to record but I've heard of people who could. I stopped bothering, I just enjoy the races, mostly live.

I double checked, and all the packages I saw (even premium) say that you only get one replay of a full race. Friend from my Yamaha board subscribed last year and it was that way where you could watch all you want, but I think they changed it for '07.

i KNOW i've watched a few more than twice this year, then again I've also caught two races in the higher def as they opened it. Maybe it depends on how busy their servers are? It's encouraging to get to watch what you want without depending on TV, but it DOES have drawbacks...like horrid customer service, occasional poor quality, never as nice as TV, and crashes to the live race feed during a race. Would love for somebody else other than MotoGP.com to make these available online, for that matter would love to see more bike stuff in general.

Amen to that. American Chopper doesn't cut it for me

I didn't mean to doubt you about the races, but every time I had looked at the packages they said only one replay of the full race. Maybe that's something different.

You would think that with the billion cable channels out there we could have one dedicated to nothing but motorcycles. Do we really need 6 channels of CSPAN??

Or at least they could have two Speed channels. One that's full-time NASCAR, since that seems to be what they think is the most popular (and probably is), and one for everything else - bikes, F1, World Rally, boats, planes, etc.

if you like passing, if you like not knowing who's going to win right to the last minute...if in fact you watch only one motogp race just to see what it's like. Watch this one.

My DVR is recording it so I can watch it later.
I don't want any of you to spoil things for me or anyone else that sees it later, OK?
