Title: Motorcycle show
Post by: tacoman on December 05, 2005, 01:42:49 PM
Did anyone make it to the Seattle MC show this weekend?  I spent over 4 hours there, a lot of displays.  No real stand out bikes this year.  All the big mfgs were there and some small ones.  A huge Harley/custom chopper section if you're into that.  There are some cool dual sports out there:  The Aprilia 450 V twin was cool, Husqvarna has some nice bikes but the rep said just about all 06's are gone.  Suzuki had only 1 new bike and of course no bandits to be seen.  They had the Katanas and SVs lined up.  The new Boulevard 109 is nice looking but if you start tapping around, its all plastic.  I think for that much plastic the price is a little steep.

Not this year, unless you paint it. Just Scorched Yellow, Tornado Red or Graphite.

I think it was there.  I didn't get much of a chance to look at the Triumphs, they had a small booth and it was crowded.  I looked at the Tiger and that was about it.

At last year's show, Triumph totally pissed me off.  One of the bikes I most wanted to see was the new Trip.  They had the damned thing in a cage.  You couldn't even touch it.  It was better protected than Rossi's bike!  You could sit on all the Ducs and Aprilias but not the Trip.

Thats strange, last year at the Seattle show they had about 4 of the Rockets in various config you could sit on.  I liked it, for as large as it is it was well balanced.  You could pull it off the sidestand easy and the weight wasn't scary.  The Kaw 2300 on the other hand is a heavy lug and it scary once off the stand.  I was suprised they left it out for people to play on.

at the Ft Worth show, Triumph didnt participate in the show. Instead they set up test rides at a local dealer.  They had a small display and gave out leaflets with directions.

I thought it was odd.  I was out of town and didn't have time to go there.  Also, I was told that bikes had been already booked for the entire day.
