My friend picked up brand new GSXR 1000 a few weeks ago and let me take it for a spin yesterday. All I can say is WOW!!! I'm 5'9", and felt as if the bike fit like a custom suit. As for the performance, it's nothing less than spectacular. The engine pulls from the get and just encourages you to take advantage of it. If I ever picked this bike up, I think I'd lose my license in about two weeks.
My current ride, wich is also my first bike, is a 96B6S with the holeshot stage 1 kit and slip on still keeps me entertained after 3 years. I've been a little hesitant about moving up, as I feel I'm still learning how to ride, and probably haven't even pushed the B6's limits...
I'm now curious to see what the current B12 is like. If I can get similar performance with the comfort that the Bandit's set up provides, I think I know what I'll be getting next...

The two biggest surprises I found between the 600 & 1200 was how similar they felt and how different they pulled. I always figured a 1200 would be too much bike but the transisiton between the two was made easy by the similar layout of controls and riding position. The power upgrade was a real eye opener and not to be taken lightly. Both of my bikes were stock but if you like your 600 Bandit you will definitly LOVE the 1200. Suffice to say you will not get "similar" performance......   :toocool:

You won't get the performance of a GSX-R1000 out of a B1200 without spending a ton of money, but the B1200 still makes like 101 bhp or something like that. That's plenty. The GSX-R1000 is around 140 bhp. But, like I said, 101 bhp is plenty. You'll never find yourself in a situation where the power of the B1200 isn't sufficient.

The new Gixxer 1000 has 157 bhp... not for the sane or faint of heart!

157 bhp, that's just ridiculous! That's more than most cars!

You think that's rediculous? I recorded the Chinese round of the MotoGP from a couple of Sundays ago (I was away on vacation). Watched it last night. Those boys are running >200 hp (commentator guesses were 215-230 hp) and were doin' >340 kph (>211 mph) . . . in the pouring rain!

Yea, that's why those guys make the big bucks

That was some race too, jaque rode a blinder on that kawasaki, if there had been a few more laps and there would have been a nice duel between him and rossi.

I especially enjoyed the early leads from Suzuki mounted Kenny Roberts, JR & John Hopkins... would have been great if they could have held out. Would have made for a nice upset.

I know your all Bandit nuts, I am too, but check out the specs on stock 2005 YZF-R1: 180bhp. My F150 does not have much more than that and weighs over 10X . NUTS yea but I am tempted to check it out. fuel injected throttle body. Most likely a computer nightmare.
