Hello Bandit Riders,

I have a question directed mainly towards the military, retired military, or any one else that may be required to have a sticker for entrance to a controlled area on thier left or right fork.
Is there any type of after market type device that attaches to the fork for stickers and if so where might it be found?
It would certainly be easy enough to make but I'm limited on tools at the moment.

I seem to remember somebody making one that flipped down.
You can't hit the base auto/hobby shop, and scrounge a piece of stainless sheet metal or something, just bend it, and drill a hole or something in it....use one of the fairing plastic screws to attach it?
Or one of the bolts on the forks? I can't remember the correct display position. Back when I was in the Army, they didn't care where we put the stickers on our Model T's.

Maybe look at some of the bikes parked on base for ideas?
It wouldn't take much....
I think there may be a commercial product, also...I think I've seen something for Toll passes, or something.

The ones I've seen have been home made, but be sure to check with the Provost Marshall's Office (or whoever issues the stickers). When I was in, my base wouldn't allow stickers on bolt-on plates, they had to go on the bike itself. They feared a sticker on a plate would be removed and put on another vehicle by unscrupilous types. Other installations didn't seem to have an issue with it, so it may be up the base PMO?

As a g-man, I have a decal, and I just stuck it on the left fork facing the side so the gatehouse would see it easily. I don't anticipate any problem getting it back off when they issue new decals or if I were to trade the bike. My buddy who works for St. Jude has the same issue and did the same thing.

But I can understand if you don't want to display it all the time.

I have seen enough oddball solutions for decals, especially in places where there are inspection stickers, advalorem tax stickers, etc., but I couldn't tell you if they were hand-made or professional. I did talk to one guy who works at the ANG and he made his.

Of course, if you don't mind paying HD prices, they make everything for that crowd, so you could look there. Also, the big book for J&P Cycles http://www.jpcycles.com/ has a lot of unusual accessories.

Good point....our decals have to be permanently on the vehicle, either the windsheild (car or bike) or fork (bike).

I made a plate to mount my sticker. After trying to remove one off my previous bike, I wanted to find another solution for my new bike. I was once told that we can mount it just about anywhere on a bike, but it has to be mounted in a way that it could not be easily removed.

This may not be legal but it should work. Stick the fort pass on a large refridgerator magnet. Leave it on the bike while on post then , once you are out the gate, through it under the seat. Seems like it would work.

That definitely be a a no-go. If a SP let someone on the base like that, then someone's better be talked too. I used the frame mount between the oil cooler and engine. If you cut the sheet metal right, it is a perfect fit and location to apply a sticker on a 2G Bandit. That is if you have a naked bandit.

Usually they require the sticker to be in an easy to see location for the gate guard. Since the tank is the only magnetic place, that's probably not a good idea. (Besides what solman mentions)

Thanks for all the input. After checking with the PMO the sticker does in fact have to be placed directly on the left fork.

I've seen most of these tricks. I used to have a metal plate that was clamped on the front lisense plate of my car.

I know a SSMsgt that wears his on an armbacnd when he ride his Harley. I just put it on the fork, and live with it. I don't want extra do dads. Also had a vehicle inspection sticker for several years until they got rid of the law.

not that anal about it anymore.
