Hello, great site ya'll have!
I just bought a brand new B1200SZ on Tuesday! I love this bike!!!!
I bought a new V Star 650 in May of 05, and got really boared w/it. No power, etc.. The B1200 is everything, comfort, power, looks!
Is there any concerns I should know about w/the 05's? I head about the 01-02's burning oil. Any probs with the 05's?

Yes you didn't include a picture! Exhaust too quiet! Other than that hold on and smile for many, many, miles. :welcome:

There aren't any major problem areas with the 05's.
(Except you may get confused for a GSXR.......) :motorsmile:

Use the time on your hands for riding!
As for handlebar position you might consider Gen-Mar set backs. They move the bars up 1" and back 1 and 3/8" and you get a new front brake hose with the kit for the Bandit. You'll have to bleed the brakes after installation of the new hose, but it's not that hard, just messy. Be careful not to get brake fluid on the paint work -- it removes paint.
The clutch hose can be nudged forward a bit and the cables will reach too.

These two places have in house designed and tested jet kits for the Bandit. Holeshot alsos ha a line of exhaust, that are a little on the loud side, although they do have some touring models that aren't bad.
(Not sure I've heard one...)
Ivan sells Yoshimura, and Muzzy. Usually, the Yoshimura exhausts are pretty quiet. You'll want to find something that will offer you a new midpipe, since the OEM can and midpipe are one piece on the '05.
A new midpipe offers a little more HP, also, since the OEM midpipe has some baffles in it.

Welcome, Fake...and enjoy the Bandit. Get ready to lengthen your sleeves. Your arms are about to get a bit longer once you start crankin' it up. :shock:
I think the oil-burning problem was solved in '02. Wrong oil ports behind the oil ring or sumptin'.

I have 65 miles on her so far, and I'm loving it! I took it to an empty parking lot yesterday, and did figure 8's. Trying to get the tires broke in before I go on a lil trip Thursday.
Here is another question. Technically I can go up to red line in first gear. During the break in period, I won't let the RPM's go abover 5500. However, taking first gear up to 5000, it feels like the gears are still way tight, and sounds like the engine is going to blow up. This is my first high rev engine bike, and I know what I'm hearing is normal, but it still concerns me.

The engine is fine. The rev limiter will kick in to keep you from trouble, and that's not gonna happen until you're in teh red zone.
A full header will give you a bit more power than just a slip-on. Don't expect more than 2-4 horsepower though - unless you do more than a jet kit. Personally, I don't think the header is worth the extra expense unless you're going after more - like cams, higher compression, etc. I don't think you'll find a lower exhaust can unless you find a drag racing header.
