Desolation,
the GS1150ES and GS1150E the naked model Were offered in 84,85,and 86 in 83 they offerd the GS1100E the Katana were offered in 82 as a GS1000SZ, and in 83 they put a GS1100 motor in the Katana for the U.S. models

Speaking of Katanas, did you see this?

I did, and did you see the going price? Prior to buying my B12, I spent about 3 years looking for a nice unmolested 1988-1990 GSXR1100. The closest I came was offering $4000 for a blue/white 1990 with 20,000 miles up in Oklahoma. It sold for $4500. I also bid $5000 for a very nice 1986 GSXR750 limited edition in Nevada, I was way off base as it sold for $6000.

I finally decided it was insane to spend that much on a 15+ year old bike and bought the B12.

It is very easy to put a modern GSXR front end and wheels, both front and rear, on these old bikes so you can run modern rubber, notice both the bikes in my 2 photos have been modified.

1983 GS750ED

Interesting.  I recently (couple of months ago) made the decision to stop hunting pristine examples of certain 70's and 80's bikes that I'd once had or wanted.  The ones that don't require a big after purchase investment from me go for way too much.  I made a new rule for myself...don't buy a bike that is the same age or older than my '01 Bandit.  My second bike will have to be an '02 or newer.  Currently I'm mulling over the idea of picking up an '05 Triumph Bonneville in Jet Black with the black engine treatment.  I always liked Triumphs going back to the '70s.  Tons of accessories for 'em, too.

I dig the so-called standards!

I think they should have made the B12 with the pilot screws uncovered
2005 Bandit 1200, Modified Holeshot Stage 1 with 17.5 pilots 2.75 turns out, and 110 mains 5 shims. Muzzy Slip on w/mid-pipe, stock filter. 1.5" hole in the airbox lid.
