Not exactly an air bag like Honda {link}, but it looks like this "air bag" protects the family jewels. Must be the same principle; air inflates and crushes prevents you from being thrown frontwards.

Seriously, the photo obviously shows the air bag not totally inflated, but in contrast with Honda's air bag, I'd have serious doubts about this one.

The Honda version looks like a big, fat, butt in your face, this one looks like a big, fat, face in your lap... I wonder if those Japanese engineers have been surfing too much pr0n @ work - or maybe they aren't getting enough from mama-san - and it's influencing their designs.

Probably isn't an airbag at all but the business end of an inflatable doll.... the bike moves by kinetic energy.
